Hi all... If you haven't heard of Dr. Carl V Phillips, he's one of the most influential THR experts worldwide, and has a very good handle on how to counter the untruths that may be thrown at you by uneducated MPs and MEPs in our battle against clause 3. He will be sharing his expertise with us on VT Talk on Wednesday night - if you have a question or a knotty problem, come along and fire away - the whole team will be there to help. 9pm start, as usual... it's at www.vapourtrails.tv - then click the "LIVE" button. Probably best to arrive ten mins beforehand and let the stream settle down.

Aye, that's true - and most of them are discounted since the ANTZ will dry that each of s is signing every last one of them, so the numbers are inflated. Contact with MPs and MEPs is the most effective route...

Stephen Hughes is Labour and his response is identical to those I have received from 3 other labour MEP's ... I'm told he's also standing down at the next election.

The daft thing is that if everybody with a big-ish e-cig just used 'em wherever and whenever, and didn't bat an eyelid about it, you'd see folks picking up on 'em a lot quicker. The more folks see 'em being used, the more they'll give them a go - it's called the tipping effect, and we're close.

Excellent news, and well done. Let's hope everybody does the same!!
On the petitions front, there really isn't the time to go through the whole thing - this nonsense starts its passage through the EU process on Feb 25th - See the programme below for what needs doing:

I would write back and point out that the threshold is so low, at 4mg/ml, that it renders an e-cig as good as useless for anyone considering their use, and that he might like to confer with Martin Callanan MEP on how to proceed.

It might be worthwhile pointing out to her that the mechanism by which the vapour is produced is identical in each "different" type of e-cig - it's only the cosmetics and capacity which changes.
Also worth pointing out that propylene glycol has been used for decades as a vapour enhancer in theatrical haze and fog machines, has been extensively tested for ill-effects and has been judged more than safe enough for acute usage over many years, and that it is routinely vaporised and pumped into hospital atmospheres as a germicide. There are no long-term deleterious health implications for it. Also, although a very small minority of people have a sensitivity to PG, those people find that a Glycerine based e-juice removes any sensitivity symptoms. Their numbers are very few.
On the effect of e-cigs on human health, it is glaringly obvious that, with a health risk profile that is less than one percent of traditional cigarettes, as has been demonstrated in many studies, it would be preferable for someone to use an e-cig rather than burn tobacco and inhale the smoke. This is not rocket science.
Give those a try.

that is fantastic news and a great response. He needs to be on VTTV. The response was my MEP repeating the stance taken by Martin Callanan, so he's the one who should be on VTTV. I don't know if he'd accept as he is on the EU Parliament Public Health Committee so is probably in Brussels. But there is always Skype. Let's just say the wheels are in motion and have been for some time, but I just need to say that the time is not right as of the present moment. From the reply, though, it's obvious that someone has been briefing his office

It's more effective to arrange meetings with MEPs at this stage - keep the voter card until we need it.

I don't care what politics they're playing as long as they're opposing the revisions to the directive. However, if everyone in the EU writes to their MEPs and gets as many appointments to meet with them as possible, then we stand a better chance of success in getting this daftness quashed.

When I bought the eVic from there, I got the SS kit too, and, frankly, it's lovely. There's be an option, I think, to buy the control head and SS kit together, which might well make it all a bit more affordable.
