MY first thought when I saw the headline was 'does he live in Ireland?'. Out here in the wild West we get quite a few power cuts - mostly in the winter when the wind is howling round the house. The year before we moved here (1999) there was a 3 day power cut which started on Christmas Day - am really glad I missed that one, since we don't have access to mainline gas either, so our cooker is electric. It's funny how quiet everything feels when the power's off - that background hum of the computers is more noticeable when it's gone. I've boiled water in an old saucepan over an open fire before now, and made toast the same way. It really does give you the feel of how people used to live - electricity only arrived here in 1954, so it's not a very long time ago. The husband and I sit here and talk or play card games when the power goes off - it's not easy to read by candlelight, though a fully charged Kindle always helps!
We get water cuts too - again, usually in December - those are harder to deal with 'cos of the loo, but there's a natural spring just up the road we can use if things get desperate! (To fill the cistern, I mean, not to 'use'! )

Do you have one of those home blood pressure monitors? I ask 'cos I've taken to using one (since my cousin brought hers round to test my Dad, and I used it and was apparently about to explode, which scared the heck out of me! Thankfully that result has never been repeated!). Sometimes (much less frequently since I switched to vaping) I get a racing heart and/or light headedness - whenever I test at those times I find that my BP is actually LOW, not high. My heart rate is normal for my age, which is nice Most of the time my BP is normal too, but I have been known to get a little excited whilst waiting for the postman

I'm not really into collecting 'gear' as such (though between us, after only a few weeks my husband and I now have 7 eGo batteries and 14 clearos) - what we have works well, although I think I'm switching to Kanger Protanks from now on - the MT3s and T3s I have tend to leak intermittently, which the Protank doesn't, so far. I'd also like a few 'tarted up' batteries - girlier looking ones than the plain black and SS we have. Other than that, I'm not bothered about collecting more 'stuff'. My interest lies with juices and flavourings - I really enjoy trying out new (to me) flavours, and I have a few ideas for mixes that I've not seen anywhere for sale - there could be a good reason for that of course - anyone fancy honeysuckle, rose and apple? People have different preferences - some like airier vapes than others, some like something that churns out loads of vapour, some want batteries that last for days between charges. Some people have more disposable income than others, too! If you're happy with what you're using, there's no real need to look for anything else - although I'm a sucker for coloured things, clearos especially!

Hiya John - there's a few of us just starting out on mixing (I'm one of them) I can't get going until I arrive in the UK next Tuesday, 'cos that's where all the stuff I've ordered is. I'm hoping it's going to be as simple as it sounds, 'cos I am a bear of very little brain when it comes to numbers and percentages. The hardest part for me so far has been choosing which flavourings to buy - have chosen something like 10 of them (which seem to go together in various combinations), but have SO many more I want. It all looks like a lot of fun Let us know how you get on, and welcome!

I gave up all sweeteners in food and drink last August, so vaping is the only way I get sweetness at the moment - but I do like a sweet vape Today my tastebuds are more than back to normal, it's like I'm hypertasting or something. I've finally pinned down what Wingnut's Wibble tastes of - it's those skimmed milk chocolate drinks you get in the chilled cabinet. Pchela's Poison is really coming through strongly today, can taste every wafery, chocolately, mochary bit of it. Yum. Also Jasmine is pretty good today, and Apple Pie is as wonderful as it's ever been Ah, it's good to have my tongue back!

They might now! LOL! Nothing wrong with holding two opposing opinions at the same time, I do it most days!

Update: my home made elderflower wine seems to be doing the trick - my tongue is working again! Gawd knows what that says about the wine... now I have to be patient and wait for my new Kanger Pro thing to arrive (hopefully) in the morning, so I can use it in its virgin state to vape my absolute favourite - Wingnut's Wibble!

My tastebuds have gone on strike today. Seems I can't taste anything - even my tobacco mint just feels cool rather than having a flavour. I've tried drinking lemonade (which sometimes works), cleaning my teeth, brushing my tongue, and rinsing my mouth out with Listerine, and still nothing. Can't even taste the vanilla custard, and that usually cuts through anything! Grrr! Going to have a glass or two of home made wine in a while, and see if that clears the mouth out a bit (it's a bit potent!). Very annoying, as I have 3 new (to me) flavours here I want to try, but not a lot of point right now.
