Interesting point. I've been vaping nearly 8 months now and, so far, flavour and throat hit have been my goals. The actual amount of vapour produced is a secondary concern at present - but perhaps that will change as I get more experience!

Was about to start a thread about this but just so that dennis started something similar to what I like to ask. What is the best to get the ekowool or silica wick? and which wire shall I purchase ? I am new to coiling/wicking melitahams but so far I have been using 2mm silica and 0.2mm Kanthal wire (I think this is also referred to as 32 gauge). I have heard that ecowool is better but more expensive than silica. I think that's a good combination (though it will depend on your mod/atomiser). I have been using 0.2mm Kanthal amd 2mm Ekowool of late. I prefer Ekowool to the 'standard' silica - but you're right it is more expensive.

Is there any independent analysis available to enable you to tell which flavours contain the smallest amount of these potentially toxic substances?
I'm asking because I'm about to embark on my first attempt in DIY mixing. I have been enjoying a large bottle of GVC over the last few days so I think a Vanilla Custard is going to be my starting point. So far I have ordered Capella Vanilla Custard and French Vanilla concentrates (plus some Ethyl Maltol, VG/PG and Nic Base). I'm just wondering if the PA concentrates would be safer long term....
Having said that I'm assuming (dangerously?) that 'trace amounts' should have a minimal health risk. Any thoughts?

Wondering if you mean Taifun and Cotton Tank?
I have the Taifun/Cotton Tank combination and it's a nice vape. I'm certainly happy with it. It doesn't hold a lot of juice though....
I don't have a Spheroid, but everybody seems to rate them. I bought my Taifun secondhand very cheaply. If I was buying new I think I would go for a Spheroid - it has so many fans they can't all be wrong!
ETA: I'm a huge Kayfun fan. In my opinion the 3.1ES beats the Taifun/Cotton Tank by a country mile. It's also very practical, superbly engineered, and easy to rebuild. A friend of mine has recently bought a Kayfun Lite and rates it up there with the 3.1, which is good as it's a lot cheaper!

If my hands go on strike then I won't be able to vape properly - then I'd have to use that bl**dy awful chewing gum. It's a simple choice really: Gum or Mods? I'm going for mods I'm glad I tried the gum, as the disgusting taste of it made me try vaping + 1

The way I look at it is that, although I only have 2 feet, I have been given countless pairs of socks over the years - so the fact that I have only 2 hands should not be a limiting factor when it comes to the purchase of shiny handheld things. I have a fairly large drawer heaving with socks - so a similarly sized drawer packed with mods is quite simply a necessity to prevent my hands becoming terminally jealous of my feet. If my hands go on strike then I won't be able to vape properly - then I'd have to use that bl**dy awful chewing gum. It's a simple choice really: Gum or Mods? I'm going for mods

Even so my understanding is that the board provides protection - in reality it's likely to fry and break the current flow even if it's built-in overcurrent protection fails. It actually only cost a little more than a decent reusable (Vapesafe) fuze. If you're worried though I guess you can use a protected battery. However this may reduce the short-term current available to the circuit. I'm guessing that might compromise performance - but you can try and see, cos my better half informs me regularly that I'm often wrong

Thanks oldsmokey gonna grap one of them...last question am i right in saying that once a kick is used in a mech mod i no longer need to use protected batteries and can now use my un-protected ones? Yes that is my understanding - I'm using Panasonic 3400mah in both the the Roller and SB. If your mech mod has a 'hot' spring then you're actually doubly protected. ETA: I meant to say Panasonic 3400mah unprotected batteries!

It looks identical to me although I was told mine were made by Sigelei.... Did it drop straight in without problems or did you have to sand the edges down a bit? Dropped straight in no problem. There is a spring-loaded plunger on the board which makes the ground connection, and you may need to insert the module at a slight angle to the battery tube to compress that plunger against the tube wall, but it's a piece of cake to fit. Power adjustment is by 'suck it and see' (there are no power markings on mine) but once set you don't really need any. Combined with a nice mech mod it gives a great vape IMHO.
