Should be a doddle then. Another thing to watch on those bases is that the air screw sometimes finds its wayout the base slightly and into your 510 slots and you cant get it of ya mod. i ended up putting a blob of superglue over it to keep it in place. I have to use a spacer to stop the base 510 pushing the mod contact too far in, so that should keep the air screw in. Thanks for the tip though. Useful to know.

Many thanks for the reply.
Would that be in the actual air-intake hole, or the centre hole through the positive post?

Any help appreciated. just received and built these:- www.fasttech.com/p/2206000www.fasttech.com/p/2033505KF bases and Bell caps but the airflow control screw appears to do very little, and the draw is too loose. All the Youtube videos seem to be for too tight a draw, but with these, whatever driptip I use the draw is too airy. The airflow hole through the positive post is 2mm, and I wonder if there is a way of making it a tighter draw. Not used these bases before, but they are pretty rough, and would not recommend them, but FT has little selection now. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.Any help appreciated.

Well, it seems I am not alone in making coils last a long time. I just had the feeling that there was a reason not to keep the same coils running.
Many thanks to all who replied.

Been vaping for 4 years. Started on Kanthal and fairly recently graduated to 316L. Same thing with both. I NEVER burn out a coil in either material. They would last a year if I didnt get bored and just replaced them- because I think I should. Usually, a dry burn and wash sees the coil almost as good as new (in my eyes) Maybe I am missing a vital symptom.
Would appreciate any thoughts as to when a new coil is actually needed.

Have taken onboard all helpful advice, and will get some suitable batteries in the future. VTC Mini has proven to be faulty, so makes it all a little irrelevant for a while anyway.
Thanks again anyway.

Many thanks to all who replied. Such good people in this forum.
Anyway, to explain a little more.
My initial thought was that as I really need to use my existing 10amp batts (which I have quite a stock of) I would stick to fairly low res coils ~1.5ohms which to be honest, I am fairly happy with most of the time. However, as I have an Evic with TC, I would love to just try TC at my present vaping levels and see if it would improve vape quality. Maybe I am not understanding something basic, (which is likely due to advanced age) but my fear was that bearing in mind a 30watt safe vaping limit with these batts, if I used TC mode, then the mod would maybe draw more current initially than is safe, before the TC had a chance to kick in.
Once again, many thanks for any further guidance.

DiscoDes - Very helpful reply, and has added to my understanding a little more. I have on order some Stainless Steel for coils, and take on board what you have said about better batteries.
I didnt realise that I could set max wattage in Temp Control mode, as I have only just received the Evic and not delved into the instructions. Maybe it will become clearer when I do, but in the meantime, due to the helpful info here, I feel able to at least try the Temp Control in relative safety.
Many Thanks.

I haven't seen an oscilloscope output for the Evic VTC mini, but some temperature control boards will output their maximum Watts until the coil is up to temperature. So from this, can I assume that it would be dangerous to use Temp Control with the 10amp Batts?

Would you be good enough to explain how I would apply a 30W restriction when I am in Temp Control Mode on the Evic?

Slightly unusual I know, but my situation is that I use Kanger Subtank at present on a Vamo @ ~10watts (~1.5ohm) and get quite good Direct Lung inhales. However, the Vamo is failing, and I now have an Evic VTC Mini for which I have quite a stock of good quality 10amp batteries. I know ideally that I should buy ~30amp batteries for the Evic, but am not in a financial position to do so at the moment. My question is :- Is it possible that I can safely utilize the Temperature Control facility of the Evic using my existing 10amp batteries, or should I stay with Wattage mode? Many Thanks for any input.

I have to run 70%PG/30%VG in my subtanks, as the only VG I can get here tastes awful at higher %s. No leaks, and wicks very well. HTHs.

Mrsmac - Surely this vendor should have either replaced or refunded and not make you wait for a reply from his source. That in my opinion has no regard for the customer. We need to know who this retailer is so we do not endure your frustration. I do agree with this. Please let us know which vendor we need to avoid for the future. You never know........it may teach them a lesson about Customer Service.
