I don't think comparing an Evic or SVD to a spinner is what the OP originally asked. The software is easy to use, updates in a few seconds, and writing from the software to the Evic is something a child could do, again in seconds. I have two, and they cause no problems whatsoever. On any battery over tightening any Carto/Tank/Clearo can push down the centre pin. Even on a Spinner. As to your original question, both devices are superb. Only the weight of the SVD might be an issue. I use both, regularly, I have had no problems and I wouldn't part with either. Jag. (Sometimes a good thing is a good thing ....) Well, fair point re OP, but in my personal experience (which, like a lot of folks', begins with Ego, Spinner or Twist types), it ain't in the least bit elegant in and of itself. It is indeed more elegant than a Vamo or similar, however. But then no mod that takes an 18650 is going to be elegant, really, they're big batteries. No, the firmware issue is not a big one, but the electronics one is IMO - mine doesn't detect ohms properly leading to burning (at least, that is what I think is happening, I don't have an engineering degree). If it was one atty, I'd say it was the atty's fault as ohms can vary, but it is consistently telling me that 1.8 ohm Evods are 2.2 ohms, 2.2 ohms are 3.1 ohms and so on. Unscrew it, re-screw it, and it comes up with a different arbitrary figure. Any atty that won't work on my Evic works on everything else I own. I don't think I overtighten in general, otherwise it'd happen on everything else. So you could conclude that either I'm abusing my Evic for some reason, or it's especially sensitive to centre pins, or the o-ring support is indeed rubbish, or I have a duff one. I'm not in the habit of abusing £70(ish) items, especially when they're the most expensive bit of vaping kit I own. If you can do it without trying, doesn't that make it unfit for purpose? That combined with the ohmage issue - I wouldn't really recommend it to anyone who likes simple, easy vaping. I just want to stick an Evod on it and vape, and it frequently (but not always) won't let me do it. I've become so frustrated with the thing, I often just revert back to my cheapo Spinners, which are not as good but are vastly more reliable. An Evic is not worth the risk or investment in my own personal experience, but like I say, when it works it's great. It produces improved vapour and TH over a Spinner, and if you want to get all techy, you can. Depends what you want to get out of it. For me, as soon as I find something I can afford that is better, it'll be consigned to occasional use. Perhaps you do indeed have a "Duff" one. I just checked my two with three evods, two T3S's and a couple of Vision V3's. The readings were fine. Did the same on a Vamo SS VE and that gave the same readings. Checked them all on my two Smoktech Sids and they read the Evod's 0.1 higher than they should have been. The slightly spurious reading didn't effect them in use though. Perhaps you could get in contact with the Vendor who sold you the Evic, or failing that the Manufacturer themselves? You do seem to have problems, and those problems do sound as though they may stem from a faulty unit. Jag. (Hates anything faulty. )

When I first discovered vaping (Nicolites) I was into the third day when my wife caught me in the kitchen looking for an ashtray ...... duh.
She got a real hoot out of that.

I would imagine that for a female the Evic would feel elegant, unlike the SVD which although a superb device is a bit of a brute. When I first got my SVD my wife remarked wittily, "Be careful you don't fall off the end of that." I think you would be very happy with an Evic. Jag. (Sits down to use his SVD ...)

I have two that I got from Totally Wicked, both have two screws but they were part of the full kit.
Maybe you could contact Joyetech UK and find out if theirs, or someone they distribute to have the two screws.

Sounds like a faulty unit.

It isn't how much I spend that bothers me, it's how often I can find a good reason to spend that seems to be the problem ......

Jaguar7777 the closest I've got to the draw on the Boge cartos, is an Iclear 16. Yes, I found out the same thing. The thing is, every now and again I like fooling around with the Cartomisers, it just adds another string to the bow so to speak. I guess I just like to maximize the fun to be had from the equipment. I'm so pleased to hear vaping is good again for you frilly siffy I know what you mean about needing a warmth to the vape - that's one of the main reasons that I still like using Boge LR cartomisers so much. To me they give me the warmth & the draw in a very similar way to a real ciggie. That's interesting, Chrissie. It's not something you hear many people discussing, but when I first made the switch From cartomisers to Clearo's and Tanks I really did miss them. It took a long while to get used to the change, but eventually I did. However, sometimes I vape on a Boge for a little nostalgia. My secret is out ..... Jag. I just watched the screen version of Truman capote's "In Cold Blood." Yes .... some of the classic films are exactly that, classics. Time does not diminish them, if anything the passing of time makes them more interesting.
