So basically they're coloured Mini Protank v1's, right? Look good to me, I love my MPT despite the fixed tip and I was seriously considernig picking up a second anyway as I just find them nicer to use than plastic ones. If anyone tries them out please let me know how they fare vs a "genuine" kanger Mini PT v1, I'd imagine they're essentially identical being a clone but I just ask to be sure.

Lol that's good. I've heard of people trying to light a cigalike with their lighter too, which apparently doesn't do them much good Ha! I have to admit I almost did that my first night vaping, it was a total automatic reflex. Gotta laugh at flicking the cigalike out of the window though - Bombs away chaps!

According to the records I've kept in my beginner diary thread I've spent just under £90 in the 40-odd days I've been vaping. Then again my gear is limited - A mummy, daddy & baby-bear set of 400mah, 650mah and 950 batteries, a pair of Evods, 3x Kanger TS3s and a Mini Protank v1. I use these small BCCs as all-day vapes, which to be sure can be fiddly at times when one get's into a gurgle/pop cycle & won't break out, but then again that's why I have several on the go, so I can switch & rinse in the evening. @dosser - While your £500 figure makes me go , I can totally understand the pattern, that is that the startup costs of hardware, maybe the odd failed experiment with disposables (luckily I avoided that phase by lurking on this forum), and then settling on a few, quality pieces of kit. After that, it's basically just topping up on juice & maybe coils/wicks ay? As for me, one of the biggest reasons to vape is to see major cost benefits, so I'm resisting the urge to splash out on nice mods, fat tanks and all the cool stuff - I'm making a concious effort to "make do" with my small collection of BCCs and Evod/ego batteries - Quote below from my diary thread..; Bear in mind the figures above detail my startup costs, £20 of which was my first hardware, the Mini Protank v1 kit - If we just think about juice costs for a vaper who's settled on a favourite regular juice, that equates to what - About a fiver per week or less on juice? My local ecig shop sells a 30ml bottle of Hangsen Blueberry which I'm fond of for £5 and I'm no stranger to sites like JooseJuice which sell nicer tasting stuff for a few quid more. So, assuming I can stay strong and deal with the regular maintenance (ie' washing out once per day to avoid condensation, regular refilling during the evening, etc..) and stick with only using the BCCs, I can see that big savings will come for sure by sticking to the cheap BCCs. I might go nuts next month & get myself a PTv2 or Mini PTv2 and a new battery (maybe a VV passthrough) but that will definitely be something I mull over before I commit. <- Duck's arse

For sure I notice this - Atm I'm off work for a few days and I've chuffed through about 3ml per day, easy, but when in my normal working routine I don't need anything like that - And yes, it's similar to when I was on fags as well.
During a working day a single 650 evod batt will last me all day with change, but being off work all day at home I'm having to rotate so that I use 2x batts plus per day.

Ayes, I jumped on the bandwagon the other week after Jordan posted about them - I'd seen one that evening while shopping & thought "ayup", then came home, logged in & saw he'd had the same thought as me - I nipped back in the same evening & got one myself! I've got a small wodge of tissue paper lining the bottom of the large centre tube/hole though, so that when I plop my twist into it, it doesn't bang the twisty-knob (um..) too hard, don't want it falling off stuck at 3.2 ay?

BigJim......it is not the amount of money as such, I just dont want to spend loads on a kit that wont suit my needs, then I go ahead and buy another and another until I have the right set up...better to buy the one that suits me straight away. /// Its not that I am thick, but I know some things in my life just require an easy simple item that does its job Fair play - exactly my reasoning when I chose my first kit, the Mini Protank kit for £20. It's as good a quality tank as you're going to get, with a simple (but simple is all I need) battery to go with it, and a supply of 5x extra atomiser heads which will easily last me 3 or 4 months - Job done. Sure I picked up a couple extra batteries later on so I can use one for work, then switch to one for home and a bigger one for all-day weekends, etc.. but the essentials of the kit were chosen along exactly the same criteria as you outline above.

debbie - I know what you mean about the fear of spending silly money when everyone & his dog recommends their own personal favourite starter kit. Basically, all you need is one or two clearos (the tanks, be they plastic like CE4's, a plastic/metal mix like Evods, or glass, like Protanks). And a couple of batteries. Even a 650mah & a small 350-400mah will do, just so you can rotate them. "Rebuildable" seems to sometimes mean subtly different things at different times, but when we're talking about these smaller clearos like Evods, CE4's & such generally it means that the atomiser head (the bit you see me take off & clean in my second link) can be un-screwed and replaced, so that you don't need to throw away the entire clearo (tank), like you have to with the older CE4 designs. (which is why you'll see things like "CE4 v3", version-3 for example has a replaceable atomiser) Atomiser heads cost about £1-£2.50 depending on the make/model, and mine seem to last ages, I'm easily going on 2+weeks with my first. Later on, if you choose to, you can even avoid the small cost of replacing them, because you can do your own coil & wick, but for now, while you get used to them, just consider an Atomiser head to be about a quid to two-fifty, and will last you about 3x weeks, give or take. So considering you're on rollies right now, you'll roughly be looking at the cost of 3 to 4 bags of tobacco for your equipment, which is essentially a one-time purchase. What's that - a week's worth? Then you're looking at the cost of three-quarters of a bag of tobacco per week for the juice, plus 1x atty head per 3-4 weeks. When you add it up, it's waaay cheaper than smoking, it's just the hurdle of getting one's head round it that's tricky, and I'll admit it's what took me so long.

Thanks mate - As I think I said in my own intro, I'm normally very suspicious of anyone who looks like an evangelist, no matter what they're promoting - But in this case it's such a massive deal going from vaping to smoking that it's worth promoting to folk.

Hey Debbie I know you've a bunch of reading ahead of you, and it's not normally good form to pimp your own threads, but I thought I'd post a couple of links for you - it's all light, non-technical reading I assure you. Basically I've * just* gone through the same process as you, doing the reading, bookmarking a sh**tonne of vendor's pages, comparing this kit vs that kit, etc.. and felt none the wiser, it was all making my head spin. I then came on here as a day-1 beginner, put my assumptions forwards and asked questions based on them, and the answers came back pretty much as expected. Then once I'd got my kit through the post, I put together a day-by-day diary of what I found, how it went, etc.. (this is still on-going though I've taken the weekend off so that I have a bit of progress to report! ) >> Initial Post>> Diary/BlogIn the end, I went with a cheap £20 kit (although you can start significantly cheaper) and within an hour or two of using it I knew I'd found my answer. Vaping is one of those things that you sort of need to jump in & try to before your deepest-darkest inner mind admits that it works, but unless you've got some seriously strange circumstances in your life, you'll be able to stop smoking or at least * seriously* cut down with no trouble at all, it's an amazingly easy switch which for me was the biggest surprise. Before I tried it, always at the back of my mind was the nagging worry that I'd spend a bunch of money on something only for it to languish in a drawer & I'd just have wasted the cash, however after about 11 days of vaping I tried a real fag & it tasted horrible - I quickly chucked it! Trust me, you've found your answer to get off the roll-ups. I liked smoking, I knew it was bad for me but hell, I enjoyed it. This is nicer. It's cheaper. It's easier, believe it or not. Great technical, geek-like knowledge is not required, but will be attained in no time without trying. If you can work the computer or laptop you're using to read this, you're already way ahead of the level of technical knowledge you'd need to be an ecig pro. Best of luck - You won't need it.

Glad you got it sorted Ripple - Yeah it's a fairly simple thing, right? Flip the unit over, remove the plinth (the bit with 3x tiny little air holes), and leave the atomiser head attached to the plinth. Hold the glass bit at apx 45 degrees so you can squirt juice down the side, avoiding the hollow centre-tube which is what you suck down on. Stick the plinth & atty head assembly back on & job done. Personally I use a cotton bud (picked up the tip from Di) to just soak up any rogue molecules of juice from around the centre-tube after refilling just but it's probably not essential.

allaboute-cigarettes.proboards.com/post/510279Quick rundown of taking apart & cleaning a mini protank, should cover what you need, and yeah as mybad says, if it's not the Mini Protank-2 (you'd know as it would say on your order-info/packaging) then the glass is not removable, the chromed tip/glass part is all one-piece. Best of luck

Hi Jim (that sounds really weird, like I'm talking to myself ) - Really liking the 3 taster bottles I ordered last week, been using them to make my coco-mango-combo, so much so I'm putting in an order for 4x more different ones. What I'm especially liking is how you can try differing nic-strengths & PG/VG ratios of flavours you might already like, but in the taster format without taking such a big risk with a 30ml.. Cheers, and as a relatively new vaper (8 days & counting!) I'm loving the shop for my juices.
