Sounds like there's definitely an issue. Where did you buy it from? Off the top of my head I can't remember and I'm not at home at the moment. I'm wondering if the little hole next to the charge port is a reset button. Jay

Hi all, my vt40 is starting to behave erratically. Last nite wiith a tc build in a subtank the Vape got quiete hot and intense and I just thought dodgy build, even though my builds tend to be ok and it had been performing well for a couple of days. I decided just stick a stock head in there instead as it was 1am and didn't fancy doing another. Today with the stock head the battery is reading occasionally as having no power and sometimes I'm getting the check atomiser message. I have tried a dfferent stock head and the same is happening. The low battery thing has happened a couple of times previously aswell and I have had fully charged batteries inserted. Ideas or advice very welcome.

I noticed that earlier, I don't understand what's the problem with Google, are they another Co starting to throw its weight about telling us what we can or cannot buy? I mostly use bing as a search engine now. I can decide for myself if I want my results filtering. Google have a policy now of strict or moderate filtering, the no filtering has disappeared from their options. Jay

I'm hugely disappointed with the quality of mine, I can't do a build on the two I bough to comment on their use. One of them I can't trap .25 ni200 under the screws, I've tried wrapping around the screws but still no joy, the wire slides around as the screws don't seem to trap it. On the other, one of the screws won't undo, it rotates, just won't unscrew.
Really disappointed as I was looking forward to playing with these with temp wire ????

Bobsbeer I'm not sure it was an attempt to smear. I watched the bbc news this morning and it came across as the majority of these fires could be avoided if the correct Chargers were used for the correct devices and devices of questionable quality were best avoided. I mentioned the household appliances and the risk they posed to demonstrate the comparison very briefly. Articles regarding these issues in appliances have been published by the bbc a few times but that's not a smear on our washing machines etc. I think this mornings news article isn't necessarily a bad thing. This article may prevent new Ecig users from going the £5 carboot kit and instead they might make sure the kit they buy is from more reliable source, that the charger they are provided with is suitable etc. most members here appreciate these warnings. New users might think getting set up for a fiver from a dubious source is a great idea. The article is saying the cause of the fires is maybe avoidable in some cases if using the correct equipment. We here know the risks iffy equipment poses and if it's causing life threatening situations it should be publicised. As vapers we have become a little paranoid I think and not unduly so but articles like this do not worry me. Jay

What I'm picking up on this story isn't such a bad thing. The article gives the impression that the majority of the fires are user error in that sub standard cheap equipment is the likely cause.
The figures are only reported cases of batteries going mental but the powers that be can only go on reported or official figures. So, 100 reported fires over 2 years, well let's average that out at 50 a year out of 2,000,000 users. That's a percentage of 0.0025. I know it's still worrying and it would be wonderful if it was zero but I don't find that figure particularly scary.
Pinched from The Guardian. "Washing machines account for around 600 fires a year, tumble dryers more than 500, dishwashers 460, ovens 350, and fridges and freezers 300."
I know there's many more of these appliances in the UK than there are Ecigs so accident figures may well be expected to be higher but these appliances are meant to have passed strict safety standards so some kind of perspective can be drawn. Another point is that the majority of users of the above appliances will at some point have left the house and left them running. We try and police ourselves and say don't leave Ecigs charging unattended. If everybody took that advice on Ecigs how close to zero fires could we get ?

Hi all I'm wondering where people source there ni200 with reasonable postage ? Stealth vape charge £3.30 to send a single spool which I imagine would go large letter as opposed to small parcel. I just think when it works out at Over £6 for 10 metres +5 free is a bit steep. I'm only wanting a single spool at the moment to try my hand at temp builds until my local B&M stocks a few different gauges.

Thank you robby @scooby I'm a bit flipping skint but vaping is my only vice, I don't drink and I obviously don't smoke so I might pull the trigger on the VT40. It will take me a week to decide on the colour though. I'm leaning towards the black but I worry about the finish as I've got the touch a rhinoceros and don't want something that scratches easily. I've read through this thread as a total noob to temp protection/control and one thing that is jumping out at me is ni200 as a coil material is significantly lower in resistance when compared to kanthal. I've been thinking about the vt40 myself but is the temp protection/control better suited to sub ohm builds due to the low resistance of ni200? That might seem a silly question but as I stated in the first line I'm a noob to temp reg/con. My current build in my sub tank mini is .37 kanthal 8 wraps 2.5mm inner diameter, heated and squeezed, coming out at around 1.1 ohm's. I'm using this with my red astaire at 16w. Reading this thread I'm thinking the resistance of this same build except with ni200 would be a lot lower resistance ? Sub homing tends to be done at higher wattages than that which usually suit me. It just feels to hot and harsh. Is this then where the temp pro/reg is going to help me out ? My humble appologies if this has been covered dozens of times already but I usually need things in idiot proof terms. I also appologies mxethey if you feel I'm hijacking your thread for my own info. Can someone explain how the pre order works please. I haven't ordered but if I did and the stock doesn't arrive this week as stated then what happens, am I offered a refund ?
I've emailed midlandsvaping but I'm impatient lol
