Yes she is an adult, a fact I sometimes forget, and so are the majority of her friends. I suppose the best you can do sometimes is point them in the right direction and hope...especially when it's something you did yourself for many years lol

I recently discovered my 18 year old daughter had started smoking, originally this was only when out with her friends. When she came home she smelled of smoke which she explained away saying she stands with her mates when they smoke...my suspicions were aroused but I couldn't find any evidence. However when she started leaving her bedroom window open in December and the essence of stale smoke was lingering upstairs I went a tiny bit ballistic. I was on a sticky wicket having only stopped myself in July so after some thought I decided to allow her to try vaping, I had some 0 nic menthol juice that had come as a freebie so I started a new iclear16 and let her try it. She loved it. So we found her a shisha pen starter kit on myepack and got more 0 nic stuff and so far not only is she happy but she's got 2 of her friends off the ciggies too. I have to say its a really cute little kit with 2 Kanger esmart clearomisers in cherry red and matching batteries.
But I can't help feeling I've played into the hands of the anti vaping crowd. Obviously my concern was to get my daughter off cigs as quickly as possible before the addiction took hold properly. If I'd have come down on her like a ton of bricks and said no smoking ever, anywhere, not only would I have been a tiny bit hypocritical she would have simply carried on. So now we have 3 teenagers vaping who think it's the height of cool, possibly tempting their non smoking friends to join them...aaaagh, I can see both sides but my responsibility is to my daughter, she and her mates were already using the evil weed. It doesn't help when half the cast of popular tv shows are seen out with pretty little shisha pens in their hands. So for now I will continue buying her juice for her to make sure she stays at 0 nicotine until the novelty wears off, by which time hopefully she won't be tempted back to stinkys...

Welcome dickielynch, I did exactly the same as you, though it took me longer to find this forum. I started with skycigs/greensmokes which kept me off the ciggies, however now I've taken the advice from these lovely people I have moved on and up to a refillable starter kit and the difference is amazing, and I've saved a lot of cash. My advice is read the links and go for it, you won't regret it!

Well if it's any consolation I was very proud of myself for cleaning and successfully dry burning my iclear16, it's all squeaky clean, works perfectly and tastes of....sterident... Guess I didn't rinse it properly...bleugh!!

Well until the invention of disposable clothes and bed linen (biodegradable of course) the little darlings are going to have to learn to wash and iron at some point. I think I'd feel a bit of a flop as a mum if I let my 2 out into the big wide world without the skills to keep themselves presentable. I've worked full time for the majority of their lives, knowing they can cook/clean/use the washing machine etc has been essential as it means the workload is shared between us. I know parents who would rather do everything themselves than battle with a grumpy reluctant teenager, but I find the deprivation of food or clean clothes quickly changes their attitude...nasty cruel mother that I am!

I also lament the lack of basic living skills taught in school these days, we learned how to cook, sew and even iron. The expectation is I suppose that these necessities should be passed on by parents but judging by some of the students living with my daughter when she was in uni halls of residence it is obvious this doesn't happen. For example the poor lad trying to wash his quilt at the launderette because he simply didn't know the cover came off, or a friend of my daughter's who had no idea how to iron, she'd never used one. How these poor kids survive alone is beyond me..

I think the complexity of some of the work given to kids when they're little puts them off, it should be a time for building their confidence, instead some of them are overwhelmed at an early age, especially if there's no one able to help at home, so the downward spiral begins...

Hi and welcome Flutterby, like a lot of people I started with a cigalike kit like that one, soldiered on with it for several months then came across this forum. The advice from these folks is first class, I followed it and moved on to a starter kit recommended by them and the difference was amazing!

I know I must be grey but how much I haven't a clue, I disliked my mouse coloured hair so it's been dyed regularly for years. My dad however had a full head of blonde hair till the day he died, never could find a grey stand in it...sadly I didn't inherit it
