Hi @markdandav I'm not very experienced but I usually use .25mm round a 2mm former 7 to 8 turns gives me around the 1.8 - 2.0 ohms I used 0.28mm, but the same 8 turns around 2.5mm. Came out at 1.4-1.5ohm, but with the better wick it was a dandy coil that I never strayed from.

Those are the same results as posted on the candlepower forums. You can see quite clearly how the batteries fall of rather quickly over 20Amps. It is a good result - but the point is these batteries are inconsistent and I seem to have 2 examples of the worst extreme of that. Having said that they are within the spec, but hardly capable of holding voltage at higher currents with the IR they have. And the IR in the spec should ring alarm bells everywhere, 0.08ohms? 20 Amp batteries have an IR better than 0.02ohms, 30Amp better than 0.015 Ohms. The higher the IR, the lower the usable Current and the higher the temperature per Amp.

4 wire testers are cheap enough these days, and once calibrated can measure the IR to give a good indication of the capabilities of a cell. Even uncalibrated they can give a good indication by comparison.
I'm not suggesting everyone buys one, but would it be unreasonable to ask a vendor to make one part of their arsenal? Takes 5 seconds to test, the battery doesn't need charging for an initial test and it'll take negligible power from the cell. Would also prevent the fiasco we had last year with a vendor having to recall the fakes they sold. Protection for everyone.
Torchy tests his!!

After discussion via PM with another member it's apparent there's good and bad ones. The fact is AWT are rewrappers, the batteries can come from anywhere, the spec says 0.08ohms or less, so it can be easily assumed there's AWTs out there with really low internal resistances. A look at the candlepower forums confirms that, though there is a suggestion it's a 20Amp cell.
I got bad examples, which are within spec (apart from the current) and there are better ones out there. Is it worth a gamble?

Brillipower 18650 imr 3.7v 2500 mah 35a Only have the 2600mAh on the database. Only rated at 5.2 Amps though. I think Brillipower are one of those guilty of over-speccing. Will investigate Found it. Specced at less than or equal to 0.08ohms IR(DC) I doubt the spec already, 2.8Volt drop at 35Amps

Ah Greg Black or red? Capacities? There's been 3 versions of the reds to date Red 18490 - 1100mah not sure on the red 18650 as just remembered I gave them away. how about a LG DBHE21865 N265I222A5, in idea on capacity but they come as standard with a VS DNA40. Added a few AW reds (new and old). HE2s are there, thank you

I'd like to include as many as I can lairey, but you have to admit it's gonna be a fairly HUUUUGE list doing it that way. I think in reality I will definitely leave out the rewraps, and probably those that don't make the mark. I want it to be a list of safe batteries. As these are AWTs I've already shown here that the 35Amp doesn't make the mark and are unsuitable for vaping (In my opinion should be limited to 16 Amps max). Will investigate the 40Amp but I've no confidence. If I include 'bad' batteries I'll be editing and adding forever (rather confusing actually). Hope you understand

I was thinking more of those cheap and not so cheerful batteries that are available on the likes of Ebay that are all too easy to pick up for someone who doesn't understand the implications of using them. You are sooooo right there. I originally posted this because I felt it could appear so pompous when I jump on a thread about batteries giving my advice. So glad I posted now, it seems like something good will grow from this

I want to compile a list of batteries with their power ratings, and lowest ohms (mech) as a quick reference guide for members so no maths is involved. I'd like to include as many batteries as possible, but due to the variable nature of rewraps I don't think they can be included. This is open for all members to suggest batteries bearing ^^^ in mind. I want to include the better batteries from Torchy and Ecolux (they're not all suitable for vaping) I'd like VapingBad to be involved too, invaluable experience and eloquence 18650: Sony VTC4 and VTC3 (VTC5 has no reliable sources) LG HE2 and HE4 Samsung 20R and 25R AW IMR18650 2200 mAh | AW IMR18650 2000 mAh | SHEESH, TRY GETTING TEST RESULTS FROM MR WANG IS LIKE ASKING FOR HIS CC DETAILS!!!!!!AW IMR18650 1600mAh | Nitecore NI18650A eFest 35 and 20Amp Can't include either. 35 is a 20Amp rewrap (LG), the 20 is a rewrapped 6.36 amp Panasonic NCR18650BE (ICR, bloody dangerous).JacVapour 18650 2500mAh Rewrapped Keeppower, which in turn is a rewrapped Samsung 25R EFEST PURPLE 2100MAH 38A KEEPPOWER 18650 2500mAh 20/35A Rewrapped LG Torchy 2500mAh 30A IMREN 2500mAh 40A IMREN 2600mAh 38A Solotech 2100MAH 30APanasonic CGR18650CH 18500: AW IMR18490 1200mAh AW IMR18490 1100mAh Efest IMR18500 1000mAh Efest IMR18500 1100mAh v2 18350: AW IMR18350 800 mAh AW IMR18350 700 mAh Efest IMR18350 700mah (Purple) Efest IMR18350 800mAh (Button) Efest IMR18350 800mAh (flat Top) JacVapour 18350 750mAh Rewrapped Keeppower KEEPPOWER 750mah 8/15A 26650: EFEST PURPLE 3500mAh 64A EFFEST GREEN 4200mAh 50A IMREN 3600mAh 60A IMREN 4200mAh 60A MXJO 3500mAh 35A MNKE 3500MAH 20/60A MNKE 4000mAh 20/60A Vappower 4200 mAh 40/60A Price means nowt. i was looking at them on uk vapers site he discounts them there but does it matter what he rates at as long as we know the vct4 is 30a and the 25r is 20a and thats what well be getting so just ignore his supposed rates ? It's okay for us, we know or can ask. But what about new vapers, not members of a forum like this one, making their first purchase? Ebay will always be the first port of call for someone wanting to save money.
