I have just spotted a new AIO kit. OBS KFB AIO Kit. Nothing different there I hear you say, there are loads on the market. This one too has a 2ml tank and replaceable coils. Again nothing different. It even looks similar to other AIO's by other makes. However this unit has one very big difference to the vast majority if not all AIO type kits out there. It uses replaceable 18650 batteries. No longer are you at the mercy of running out of power when you most need it You can carry a spare battery and off you go again. No longer do you need to carry two identical units. I spotted this on Heaven Gifts as a pre order unit, so have yet to see one in the flesh. Check it out at www.heavengifts.com/product/OBS-KFB-AIO-Kit.html
I'm sure many of you have heard about the Maker community and there are workshops all over the UK. I have just spotted a new service being developed by Heaven Gifts and others which is aimed at us vapers. It's called DeepinMaker. This is something of interest to those who are into making things rather than users, but is the first vaping maker I have seen and for any of our mod makers a way to possibly move their ideas to product in a professional way. deepinmaker.heavengifts.com/home/index.html
This is a project in partnership with some of the major vaping manufacturers and also some of the major vaping forums including POTV.
I'm sure this is a way to encourage new products to the major maufacturers, but in a way is a good idea for us vapers. There must be a massive amount of creative talent out there with ideas nobody has yet thought of, but they do not have the connections or ability to bring that product to fruition. So while some may see this in a cynical way as manufacturers pinching ideas, I see it the other way round. I wish there was something like this in the brewing world.
So if you have that next big idea, check them out.
This does have the potential to be good for vaping. My worry is that it will be hijacked by both the anti group and big T. But it is at least a start in the right direction.
I'm not losing sleep either djs, I'm celebrating. The results may not show that vaping is harmless, but it does show that it is a hell of a lot better than smoking, and that's enough for me.
Me thinks it's still better than smoking whatever they come up with so I'll carry on regardless 😂😊👍
Me too.
I'd believe Dr F (linky) before I took much notice of these fellows.
While I too will carry on vaping, as no research would suggest that smoking is safer than e cigs, the study Dr F is quoting is a different study and looking at different things. Reading this article they are in my view over hyping the results. While they do show increased secretions compared to Non Smokers, the difference between Smokers and E Cig users was quite marked, and clearly showed that vaping was better than smoking. To me that should be the headline.
Total mucin and individual MUC5AC and MUC5B concentrations in tobacco product users’ sputum:
An increased total mucin concentration and a shift in the ratio between the major gelforming airway mucins MUC5B and MUC5AC have been shown to be correlated with cigarette smoking and COPD progression (31).
We observed that the total mucin concentrations in sputum samples were significantly increased (p=0.04) in cigarette smokers (1986 µg/ml +/- 810 SD) compared with non-smokers (1251 µg/ml +/- 964 SD) and that the total mucin concentrations in the sputum samples of the e-cigarette users, although slightly increased (1322 µg/ml +/- 663 SD), were not significantly different from those in non-smokers’ samples (Fig. 6A). Analysis of the individual concentrations of MUC5B and MUC5AC (Fig. 6B, C) showed that MUC5B levels were not altered in the sputum of cigarette smokers or e-cigarette users and thus did not contribute to the observed increases in total mucin. MUC5AC concentrations, however, were significantly increased in cigarette smokers (132 pmol/ml +/- 58 SD, p=0.02) and in e-cigarette users (58 pmol/ml +/- 21 SD, p=0.05) compared with the non-smokers (15 pmol/ml +/- 6 SD). As a result, the MUC5AC/MUC5B ratio was significantly increased in cigarette smokers (0.32, p=0.02) and e-cigarette users (0.34, p=0.05) compared with non-smokers (0.11) (Fig. 6D).
A new study challenges the concept that e cigs are a safer alternative to smoking. The authors do say it is a small study and the e cig users were also ex smokers, so clearly further research is needed before a true conclusion can be drawn. No doubt this will be in the red tops in the next few days.
"...our results challenge the concept that e-cigarettes are a healthier alternative to cigarettes and reverse smoking-induced adverse health effects..."
I think that Specialist Support is required for successful transition from fags to vaping and stopping all together.
However I maybe need to explain my definition of Specialist Support. I include that offered by NHS or local official Stop Smoking services but crucially the type of support available here and on other dedicated vaping forums as well. The members on here and elsewhere, not only guide you through the tangle of crap being put out by the media, but the totally baffling sight of the equipment etc and the choice of equipment. So whether that support comes from specialist official stop smoking people or specialist vaping forums/members we have to remember that only a small proportion of vapers ever go near a vaping forum, and many have only ever seen the products available in roadside convenience stores.
I was the same about 5 years ago. I didn't use a forum or other service or have any other type of support. I failed. It wasn't until I found vaping forums 3 years ago that I succeeded. So I don't think we should be so quick to dismiss the advice. I think people do need support, but where that support comes from should not be an issue.
Maybe GP's should also hand out a list of vaping forums along with the phone number for their local Stop Smoking service. People then have a choice, but I do agree that support is an important aspect on success and one we should encourage. Of course I am talking to the converted here, but we should not dismiss our role in the members success. We, and I use the collective we, have saved lives, let's not forget that.
Concerning isn't it the lack of response from NDB . . . . as a consequence we have unanimously decided to withdraw their Vendor status on the forum and moved them on some few days ago.
As an ' administration ' we do not choose to be associated with any Vendor who gives poor service and/or sells potentially dangerous equipment - knowingly or otherwise. Nor let any of our Members purchase such equipment with our seeming approval.
( Thanks also go to the vigilant and caring folk who alerted us to this situation. )
Is there any way you can edit the profile of this crook as it is still showing live links to his website with an ad in his signature. Having clicked on the link he is selling the clone charger. One reviewer said:
The new Nitecore i4 charger is well made and is a charger you can trust to charge your high capacity batteries. I also bought 4 x Samsung 25R batteries. ...
That was a month ago. I wonder what happened to his house.
Even the USA are realising that vaping has merit in the war on tobacco. The Aussies seem to well and truly stuck with their heads up their arses. Maybe as more data comes in to show how the UK and other countries are doing in comparison it may change their pragmatic stance. I totally agree on a war against tobacco, but don't block the exit doors.
