Hi everyone, my name is David from Suffolk, been Lurking for a little while and took the plunge yesterday, after reading a lot of questions and answers I have gone for the SD MK2 being a heavy GV Smoker I thought it might be the right tool to start with, so I will let you know how it goes once it arrives. And I am sure it can’t work out much more expensive than the 150G I am buying at the mo each week!

Hi Kos - David. Welcome. I don't know the model that you have bought, but I think it is one of the highly recommended ones, so you should be okay. Have you ordered any juice yet? Can I suggest you touch base with Jimmybat (Paradise Vape) if you haven't. I think many of us here stick largely with his juices as they give a good vape, and that is what you need as a newbie. There are lots of flavours around by others, but I personally haven't found one yet to equal the vape that James manages with his.
Look forward to chatting with you.

Thanks for the welcome hanow, I went for the screwdriver as it seems the long battery time looks good, ordered from tecc, and some sample 5ml juice sets. I realise it's gonna take time to get the taste flavour right, but if I can get near to my GV Rollies I will be a happy Man

Hey Up David, never had an SD but it's one of those if i had loads of money i'd get Nice one too start with. 'GV' took me a while to work it out but i have it now Vaping start up costs a bit at the beginning but if you don't go buying and buying you can save.

David, I think many of us here were reasonably heavy smokers - and took to vaping immediately as a total alternative, or at least part alternative for some. Hearing that (or reading that) certainly promoted the idea for me before I bought anything. I didn't want to be throwing money at another 'possible' failure. Am so pleased I did. I genuinely have no desire at all for a real one! Never thought I would ever hear myself think it, let alone say it. Will look forward to hearing how you get on with your new toy.

Hello & welcome David The first big battery e-cig I bought was an SD Mk1 from Trog. Not tried the SD MK11 but had a good look at it for the first time on Sunday - Lettie, who I met up with (see micro vapefest thread) has one. Really looking forward to hearing how you get on

Thank you all, I have learnt a lot already buy reading the posts here and other boards, I realise it,s going to be a new and strange way of doing what i like doing, but what with health which up to now I have got away with, the sheer cost these days (no more cheap baccy about these days ) plus after standing outside the house in the evenings last winter, the Easterlies here on the East coast will bite your face off I thought as the old punk song goes, somethings gotta change, lol. CKC can you let me in on your GV potion please

Hi David.
Don't wanna disappoint you, but the tobacco flavours are really just to simulate smoking tobacco. None really taste of tobacco to be honest.
I have James' Benson Fences, Drum, Marli B and L & B.
Just bought a Virgina one from Totally Wicked, however, I ain't tried it yet.

David, it soon becomes "unstrange" honest Yes there is a bit of faffing about I find that actually enjoyable (Ok I am a tad weird ) Maybe for me it reminds me of how much enjoyment my dad & granddad seemed to get out of faffing with the pipes they smoked? Whatever, e-cigs are far more enjoyable than sticking useless nicotine patches on your arms

I don't mind the faffing, As I smoke a pipe sometimes, and the odd cuban cigar when life has had it's more fortunate moments smoked old Holbourn till I was about 25 then switched and stayed with GV so about 32 years, of smoking, I am very Mechanically minded, ridden owned built motorbikes since I was a kid so Think that side will be fun. One thing I am a bit peeved to find vaping in pubs is rare, well round here it is, still maybe if it becomes more common it will help. any way off to bed, will report back. Nite all.

David, just check with the landlords of the pubs if it's OK. There is no reason it shouldn't be. You should get a sort of mini poster/hand out sheet with your SD that will explain how the e-cig doesn't contravene the smoking ban. If they don't send you one, I'm sure I've got one lying about somewhere from one of my orders from TECC or totally Wicked that I could send to you.
Nite Nite David.

Sorry you're such an early-to-bed guy, David, but WOW am I pleased to see that you're the engineering type Fellas, we've got to do everything possible to keep David on side, he will be so valuable to us, we might even get him custom-building mods for us (Jumping the gun a bit there, sorry!) I used to smoke about the same amount of GV as you do, David, and had been smoking for 50+ years. I started out on the humble DSE901 Mini (higher powered models hadn't quite been invented then): But though I call it humble, it got me totally off tobacco in 6 days. You won't find a flavour-match for GV, but I beg you to keep an open mind, it's amazing how quickly you "adjust". I have a Mark1 SD, it's very reliable and extremely cheap to run - so I do hope you get on well with your Mark2 The main thing is, don't pressure yourself at the outset (or ever!) and just see how you go, and come here with any problems - "the only stupid question is the one that isn't asked" scylla

A belated hello & welcome from me David, I'll second everything Scylla & the other lovely peeps have said ~ you won't find a more friendly and helpful forum than this. I've got a SDmk2 and it's excellent so look forward to hearing how you get on with yours.
