ROFL at the pics of the rear ends of kitties. - so needed a good laugh - after an hour on the phone re: my Tesco delivery. I think sexing kittens may be easier than sorting out Tesco!

So it's not infection inside the ears that you're worried about - but "ragginess" around the edges?

Lolli - those kitties could not be in better hands. Animals are often so much sturdier than we realise. At the end of the day, as with any rescued animal - we can only do our best for them. You have done, and continue to do, all that you can. They will never know how much they owe to you, whatever their outcome may be. I have seen the most awful sores and wounds on animals - brings tears to your eyes to see them - but as you are following vet advice and doing what you can to provide care and support for them - try not to get upset. With some animals the healing process takes time. Give yourself a hug from me, as well as a squidge for those kitties. (((((Lolli)))))

I hope the other two don't get it I know you're right Chrissie - just so hope they'll be ok. Maybe I'll go back to the vet tomorrow - will see in the morning

Lolli, I wonder if the runny tum may be due to Doris/Boris's feeds? Just thinking that their little tums would have shrunk so much in the days before you found them. And/or maybe the feed is a tad too rich for them?
As for the "chewed" ears, I wonder if in their mum's absence, they started suckling on each other?

They have been suckling on each other I'm sure. I've watered the feed down a bit. Will review tomorrow. Fingers crossed x

Hi Lol - missed you too and so sorry you've been feeling less than the least - hope all is now better. What a super story about the kits and you're obviously their guardian angel (still looking for mine lol). Just make sure the ears don't get infected and all will be well but the vet will advise you better than this living room vet!! I did nurse a couple of piglet runts that had their wiggly tails nibbled and a few squirts of 'wound powder' and a spray with the good old 'purple spray' did the trick in no time. Keep us all up to speed won't you Lol - a heartwarming story although sad to lose the mum and two babes. Fox

I have sad news.
Took the 3 little D's to the vet this morning as I have been increasingly concerned overnight.
The vet said, in a nutshell, little Doris really must be put to sleep.
She has never shown any distress & seemed contented & happy, in a very weak kind of way.
She died in my hands.
The vet said they were just left far too long without feeding.
The good news is that the remaining two have made a "remarkable recovery" & are gaining weight & health.
Although one had already died when we found them, I can't believe we've lost two more now.
I took a few pics at the last minute & will try to upload later tonight. If I can't (which is likely) I'll send them to Lynda & she'll do it.
Sorry, this is very disjointed, I'm only posting now for Kath's post & this post to let you know. I'll be more together later this evening. Gosh have to be as i've 4 house guests back soon.

So very sad But Doris might have suffered if you didn't take her to the vet today. Best wishes to the two surviving Dees and to you, Lolli scylla x
