Hey there
Having just discovered the existence of e-cigs, I'd like some more information please, and I couldnt find any clear answers online.
Atomisers - how often do these need changing? Refillable Cartidges - are these simple to do, and how much liquid does it take each time? also, how long does a cartridge last in terms of cigarettes smoked? Cost - do you find yourself saving money when compared to smoking regular cigarettes? Eliquid - they all seem to be flavored, are there any plain ones? are the flavored ones sickly sweet?
I smoke around 30-40 roll ups a day, and have been for about 10 years. My partner wants to quit, but I drag him back down, as I dont really want to. It seems e-cigarettes though would improve my health (I'm asthmatic) and still give the hand-to-mouth thing I'm addicted to, as well as the very satisfying smoke effect.
I'm looking at the mini 901 (I think they're called) sets, and not too sure on what else I need to order with it. Would anyone not recommend this particular one?
Thanks for any help!

Hello Liland & welcome Just a quick post cos my cats are waiting to be fed (& so am I ). The mini 901 kit is a good starter kit. I f you buy a 901 starter kit from Vapor Station, all you would need extra to get you up & running would be a bottle of juice to fill the cartridges with. You get 2 atomisers with there kits - most sellers only supply one. www.vaporstation.co.uk/model-detail.php?id=55

oops, I meant to at leat answer some more of your questions before posting my reply Atomisers on average last a couple of weeks, sometimes they can last even a couple of months or more. You can usually but them for about £3 - £5 each, so they are considered as semi disposable. All cartridges can be refilled many times over & they take about 8 drops of e-liquid to initially fill, then you just keep topping them up with a few more drops of juice. You can get unflavoured e-liquid as well as a massive choice of flavours. My favourite ones are the tobacco flavours from Paradise Vapes : www.paradisevapeuk.com/ (link isn't working at the moment). If you have a bit of spare time, have a look at our photos & videos of e-cigs thread, it will give you a better idea about how they work. allaboute-cigarettes.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=4

Someone at work sounds similar to yourself, she was asking similar questions today. My advice was skip the smaller battery sets altogether, such as the one you quoted (901). The battery life is poor, and now there's much better out there to avoid those completely. For my work colleague, I've ordered a Riva 510 pack from liberty flights. These are a Tornado/Ego clone, and a canny bit cheaper too. Great battery life and an easy to use device for anyone to use. With that, added 5ml E-liquids of various flavours, 2 of the VG type, and 2 of the PG type. All from liberty flights, using the code ECR69 for a 15% discount. Also added 2 Low Resistance (LR) 510 atomisers. Making 4 in total, with the 2 standard 510 atomisers you get with the Riva 510. this will be good to go for at least a month. Total came to 60 odd quid. Atomisers can last from between a week to a couple of months, depending on luck and usage, so always best to have spares. Carts take around 10-15 drops to begin with, then every so often you need to top them up with a couple more drops - you'll know when to top up as the flavour/vapour drops off. Cost - startup can be pricey, but after a couple of months it can be cheaper than fags - though if you get hooked you'll end up buyinh stuff every couple of weeks till you've got a rather large stockpile - ahem. It's all good though. Eliquid is a case of trial and error - I always stuck to tobaccos and mints in the beginning - all at 18mg strength, which is more than enough for a decent throat hit. I completely agree with Bucko - that is sound advice.
I started with a 901 and whilst I am sooo grateful it was the turning point to stop me smoking, had I bought the Riva (or Tornado or Ego) first I would have saved quite a lot of money that I have spent trying to find the right device for me.
Now, if you are worried about not taking to vaping, because it is new out and there is quite a buzz around it, the Riva will sell on very quickly (keep the box and all packaging) and you probably won't lose any more than a couple of quid. I'd probably buy if off you myself!
I think the main thing is to give it a go and keep an open mind about it. Some don't take to it straight away (I was in love with it in half an hour) but if you persevere I'm sure you will find you can dramatically cut down your ciggies.
Good luck with whatever you decide and don't be afraid to ask us anything you need to know

Liland, as you can see it's really not easy to advise you or anyone else, what is the best to go for as there are several really good models out there to choose from Lol, it's a bit like choosing your first car So much depends on what suits you & your budget I just tend to think that most people want to start off spending as little as possible on something that works - but, that could just be me & I could be so wrong. However, what we can do for certain is help steer you away from scams & over priced cowboy sellers. There really are some out there selling the most basic e-cig kits for £100.00 or more (((Scylla))),no need to be timid at all my friend I'm just so glad others have posted with other options for Liland. Completely agree with you Jaki, the main thing is to give it a go I was the same as you - in love with my first e-cig within half an hour

Hi Liland, Welcome to the forum....! I smoked 20+ roll-ups a day; the "drum" juice from OkSmokey is the closest in flavour to the tobacco (Golden Virginia) I was using - in my opinion. I started off using the 901 and now use it very rarely, having found it so good (or maybe not so good?) that I now no longer smoke, and I vape very little if at all. I think the last time I used the ecig was about 4 weeks ago. Haven't had a fag in over 4 months now...... Good luck with whatever you choose and I hope you give it a go because it sure is well worth it.

I seem to be getting myself more and more confused! With the Riva, do you need two sets of atomisers, the cones and the regular? Is battery time that important - I work from home? Also, what is the length of it? The Riva looks a bit heavy to me? Do the non-tobacco flavored juices taste of cigarettes at all (people are always surprised that I dont like the taste)?
Thanks for all the help, I'm terrible with choices!

Liland, so sorry you are getting confused & apologies if we are adding to the confusion. I'm not well up on the Riva, so hope others can help you more with that. Re the battery life With a smaller e-cig like the 901, the battery will need to be recharged about every four hours or so if you are using it a lot. So you have one battery on charge while you are using the other one you get in your starter kit. The Riva battery, I believe lasts most people 8 hours or more of heavy use before it needs to be recharged, The non tobacco juices don't taste at all like cigarettes, so the world is your oyster in choosing a flavour you like An amazing choice in fact from Strawberry, maple syrup to roast beef with dozens of other flavours in between those extremes

Also, what is the length of it? The Riva looks a bit heavy to me? Do the non-tobacco flavored juices taste of cigarettes at all (people are always surprised that I dont like the taste)? Thanks for all the help, I'm terrible with choices! Liland In the Riva kit you get 2 batteries, two atomisers one cone and a pack of 10 dry cartridges. You also get the charging lead to plug into your PC and a plug to charge it from the mains. You will need to add a bottle of juice to this to get vaping, but this set up should last you a good few weeks. I find one battery lasts me well over 24 hours, but of course, everyone vapes at a different rate so the times will be different for each person. The charger is high speed and a drained battery should charge within 2 hours. Atomisers don't last forever (although I've only had one die in 4 months) so in a few weeks time, providing you are happy vaping, you might want to consider adding a few new atomisers to your juice order. There is nothing worse than having a new toy and it stops working! If you are considering the slimmer 901 you need to remember that if you are away from a charging point for any length of time (a night out, a day shopping) you may run out of battery life, even with two fully charged ones. However, I managed for a good few months with just a 901 without too many disasters (although I do have a USB port in my car to charge from). Yes, it is heavier than a regular cigarette - even the slimline 901s are - but it is something you should get used to. Vaping is different to smoking in as much as you take a longer, slower draw, which also takes a bit of getting used to. I hope that helps a bit and doesn't confuse you any more.

It says the Riva also comes with a cone atmoiser? So does that mean it runs off of 2 atomisers? Sorry for the questions, I think I'm getting there though!
