Hello there, hope you are all well. Got my first ever experience of an e-cig very recently, it cost about five and a half quid but I thought ah well nothing ventured, nothing gained! Took it out of wrapping and tried it out. Yuk! the taste was vile, something like inhaling stale processed cheese, then I recalled reading that there is some sort of coating on the atomiser bit. Now that I have coughed all the coating away :-[, there is hardly any vapour to be seen which is very disappointing. Whilst I am glad that I have at least made a start, I hope that this is not vaping at it's best ?? I guess you really do get what you pay for but I just still feel uncertain that if I do buy the Riva, it will be disappointing too.. Would love to hear your comments and suggestions. beeper XXX

Beeper - not a good start, but dooooooooooooo not give up. If you read the threads, you will see a large number of us have just got going, many with the Riva, and can say it is brilliant. You will read that many of us have been smoking far too many real cigs for far too many years - trying to give up by various methods and failing. I have been a Riva vaper for three weeks now, and can honestly say that from day one, it was so satisfying that I have not wanted a cigarette in all that time. Do have a read. You will read about a few hiccups with some of us at first, but with the help we get from the experts here, we have quickly got sorted - and vaping successfully and very satisfactorily. Oh, and hi! (Forgot to say that at the beginning.)

Duh! I've bought the disposable to give my sister a taster of e-cigs Beeper, if you are really resistant to splashing out on a Riva, then Chrissie's link is a very viable alternative. MANY of us were given our life-line by the good old 901 and some have never bothered to "advance" to the big battery mods, whilst many who have advanced are still using the 901 atomiser component with our mods. I urge you to give it a try if, like me, you need to stop smoking (not necessarily want to) and don't know where to turn. scylla

Hiya!
I've only just started using the Riva today & so far, other than a potentially duff battery or charger, it's proving to be a success.
Obviously, us newbies are going to take a while to get used to vaping, but I'm confident that it's the way forward.
I tried a disposable e cig & found it to be rubbish, but I wasn't going to let that put me off the real thing. Especially with the wide choice of juices on the market.
I guess the only issue is the inital cost of set up & ironing out vaping problems, but once we get going, the cost won't be too bad (I hope).
Give it a go & if you don't like it, maybe sell on your e cig to someone else.

Beeper sorry that you're first tentative step into the vaping world hasn't been a good experience for you. My initial ecig was a £15 kit of the car boot, luckily it was good and within a day I was on here looking for a better alternative.
I purchased the Riva and have found it totally amazing.
I'd been smoking for 36 years and was quite a heavy smoker. Cost didn't come into it with me as I purchased all my tobacco from airports or whilst abroad, even getting my mates to collect 20 packs for me when they were away.
I've not touched an analogue since I got my Riva fully fired up. I'm experimenting with e liquids and finding I love the fruity flavours (alcohol LOL)
As Hissie says you're not going to lose anything. If you do splash out of a more expensive model and don't take to it after a few days you can always resell it.
Please don't give up, as far as I'm aware the disposables are for those places where you're not allowed to smoke, I wouldn't expect that they would be a good alternative to real analogues, the purpose made e-cigs however, are a perfect alternative.
Good luck, Dee x

Hello Beeper. I'd like to second what Hissie said. A few months back I tried a disposable (Gamucci) and didn't rate it at all. I also tried a starter kit from a mail order catalogue, another disappointment. I would have given up on the idea if I hadn't found this board recently. I received a DSE901 from Liberty Flights yesterday. I'm waiting for some juice to arrive, but in the meantime I charged it up and had a go with the supplied cartridges last night. I was quite impressed with the performance, so I'm feeling optimistic that once I get used to things and get my own choice of liquid I can make the switch to e-cigs. I'm so grateful to everyone here for the clear information, and of course the encouragement.

Sorry to hear you've been disappointed in your first ecig 'test' Bee but pleeeeeease don't give up. Having been a heavy smoker myself for decades, I could easily get through 40 a day without thinking I'm ashamed to admit and I blooming loved every ciggie I ever puffed. I made a half hearted attempt a year or so ago at switching to vaping and after my atomisers quickly died I abandoned them. This year however my circumstances changed and I thought I just can't keep on spending all this money on cigs ( let alone the health blah blah implications ) So I bought some new atomisers/batteries for my 901 and started again - 4 months on I haven't looked back, and thanks to this superb board now have a Riva ( which I'm loving ) and a Screwdriver ( yet to be tested ) So I guess the moral of my story is the old if at first you don't succeed it's so worth trying again. Delighted to hear all is going well for you Inn. x
