Ant, what battery are you using the LR's on? Riva 1100mha I got 2 packs of 5 and have tested them all to be 2.5Ω even though the box says 2.0, Hoping this is ok :-) At the risk of sounding a bit dumb, what setting do you put the multimeter on to measure resistance?

There's a video here Benny, for using a multi meter for our purposes . . . it may help you.

Sorry Jeanie, I know we are off topic now. BB my lowest ohm setting is 200, I got this one from Maplins about 6 months ago for about £10 on offer Uni-T UT132A I find I need to let it settle for about 5 seconds before I read the result but it is a cheap one

No worries Ant, one day I might even understand what it all means - it's all a bit too technical for me at the moment though. lol

It starts off like that for us all Jeanie, we pick up bits as we go along and feed off eachother, asking questions Somethings I am into, other things go over my head

Here's another update to let those who are interested, know how I'm getting along with my vaping so far. I carried on over the weekend, just having the odd roll up when I fancied one, which was usually when the battery was charging, and as I felt I 'needed' a real smoke first thing in the morning, after meals and just before going to bed. I couldn't wait for my new kit and juices to arrive, which they did, along with my son's, early on Monday afternoon. I kept picking the kit up and inspecting it but was too nervous to fill anything, especially the cartomisers, in case I messed up. My son, who had done no research whatsoever, came home from work and not listening to a word I was saying (as per usual ) just attached the clearomiser to the battery, then squirted liquid in and bunged the mouth piece in. Of course you can all guess what happened next. He then did more or less the same thing with a cartomiser. All this made me even more paranoid about filling mine and I spent the rest of the day researching and watching videos on how to fill them. Finally, I plucked up the courage to have a go at filling the clearomiser. That went well, so I had a go at a doing a cartomiser next and that went ok too. The first of the pick n mix juices I tried was Black Cat, which I found disappointing as all I got was a strange taste with just the tiniest hint of liquorice. The next was Mintoff, which was even more disappointing, just the same strange taste, without any mint flavour that I could detect. The next was Obalicious but again, that same strange taste and nothing else. I've also tried my son's Cocomel, Choco Haze and Banoffee but found only a slight flavour, overpowered by the strange taste. I don't know what the strange taste is but know I find it sickly and don't like it and my son isn't very keen either. I wondered if maybe it's just something that Grizwald's use in their liquids, or whether it's my taste buds not working properly but the Hangsen menthol that I've been using, I find very tasty. On Tuesday, I went to the e-cig stall on the market and Andrew, the vendor, kindly let me try some Hangsen fruity flavours, which I found were much more agreeable to me. I didn't take any cash with me, so couldn't buy any then but I'll get some next week. Anyway, even though I'm struggling with the juices I have, I'm keeping at it and the good news is, that since I started using my new kit, I only smoked three roll ups on the first day and have had NONE since.

sounds like your doing great Jeanie sorry to hear that you're finding your juices a bit disappointing. A lot of people start off vaping with menthol, sometimes it's the only thing you can taste properly after years of smoking Keep a hold of the juices you don't like just now, you may find in a few weeks time your tastebuds will change and you may like them then

Well done Jeanie, flavours I expected to like didn't seem to work for me and most of the ones I tried that sound nasty turned out to be quite nice. Off to see if I can get some steak & kidney flavour, I cant stand that stuff :-)

Hehe your son is a natural If you are definately sure that that funny taste is not a dry or burnt taste then just leave the Gritz juices aside for now as our tastebuds do change after a bit of time there is not usually a strange taste with those juices though but there is another possibility that they were freshly made and may need to steep (mature) for a spell. Handy having a market near you, wish I had that option You sound like your doing ever so well Jeanie, well done

I was going to say Grizwalds are normally made up very close to posting - if you leave them to steep for 48 hours the taste should be much improved. As you're not doing that though as you're already vaping them hopefully the taste will change within a few days. I have 30ml of Mintoff here and while I'm not keen on the flavour its not the taste I thought it would be as my other mint is very mentholly which is my preference atm it definitely doesnt have a 'weird' taste! If you've been vaping them for more than 3 days then do you have a different clearo/cart you could try to chck it's not that? or try the juice you DO like in the clearo/cart you're using atm and see if you can still taste the weirdness?

I think I should take back my comments about the Grizwald's juices... I now think the cause was that I hadn't put enough juice in the cartomisers :-[ because when I looked in them again, the fillers still looked white so I added a few more drops, left them a while, and then after the flavours came through, they tasted much nicer. It was either that, or that I just hadn't let the flavours come through enough. I'm not sure whether the strange taste was a dry, or a burnt taste - the nearest I can describe it is as a sickly, sweet, caramelised taste, if you know what I mean? I have decided that I really like Black Cat, Mintoff is nice although not very minty, Caramel Cappuccino is ok but not really my thing. I can't comment on the Obalicious cos I accidentally topped it up with Mintoff and haven't had the nerve to try it yet. Haven't tried Golden Burginia yet but that will be next. Today is my 11th day of vaping and my 5th without smoking, although last night and this morning, I've felt I could murder for a roll up. I'm determined not to give in though and am hoping the Golden Burginia, being more of a tobacco flavour, will help to satisfy my cravings. Wish me luck!!!

Jeanie these are fabulous posts. The detail and description is helping others identify your potential problems for you and offer the best advice. I have heard othe people say they find Griz juices sickly, although generally they are very popular. Certainly always make sure your cartos are full. Looking down on the top of the wadding they should look like a 'slushy' rather than white cotton. With clearos always do some slooshing (technical term) to keep the wicks wet. Also with most wicked devices they need a couple of fills to get really tasty. Add onto that the fact that your tastebuds will be changing and your juices will be maturing and it's not surprising there are some better tastes than others

Thanks all, I'm finding your replies really helpful. oneday, I worry (just a figure of speech, I'm not really worried. lol) that my posts are too long and contain too much useless detail and everyone will just get bored and give up halfway through reading them. I tend to write like I speak though - get carried away and don't know when to stop.
