Raggy & Keef, I know what you both mean re getting a mod like the SD straight off, but I still personally prefer to recommend newbies getting a generic starter kit. Mainly because it gives them everything they need to get started & even if they do soon move on to a larger battery holder/mod, they can use their smaller e-cig in places they would feel uncomfortable using something like the SD.

for a newbie the great thing about the sdmk2 is you dont need to be worrying about nothing just load it up and away you go (for the whole day). with the 901s you need a constant stream of batteries,i was alternating 4,that said my wife manages ok with 2 batteries from her one kit. bearing in mind you are doing something really stressful in packing up the ciggies, with the sd there is IMO much less to think about. another point with the 901s is each battery will only last about 20 to 40 good puffs by this i mean you get a strong full amount of vapor, for me that was a pain i was using 6 to 8 batteries per day,and that all adds to the stress IMO. if you think you can manage with one kit then try the 901s at around £25 but if you think you would need 2 kits @ £50 then i would jump straight in for the totally wicked kit @£70 minus a 7.5% discount comes out about £67.80 with the postage. you get 2 batteries 2 atties 1 x 10ml juice. i dont know if this works out better than the SDmk1 BOGOF deal after you have bought batteries and atties. all i know is the SD does the complete job for me at this time. ragjoy........................

Hi Tony I bought the 901 kit with 1 extra attie & the 510 kit with 1 extra attie so I had 4 e cigs in total. I also bought pre filled carts & juice to refill them with (worked out very reasonably for 4 e cigs I thought) I would recommend both as a newbie - which I still feel I am - I still smoke as well & best advice is, as Scylla says to everyone, "count the ones you DON'T smoke" - I'd have given up the e cig long since if I didn't constantly remember to view it that way I like them to resemble a real ciggie & to hold them like a real ciggie so the screwdriver prob wouldn't suit me until I become more "advanced" - but - as Raggy says the screwdriver might suit you It helps to visit the forum - I get downhearted that although a lot of people give up smoking completely, either immediately or soon after vaping, I haven't managed to myself yet - but they've really helped reduce my tar (& other rubbish) intake I'm really pleased with my choice which was based on advice here & what I'd read elsewhere Good luck whatever you do

Thanks Lolli, but honestly, don't feel bad at all, i've had my ecig for a couple of months now, so it's taken a while to get to this point... but i'm happy with my progress, i'm not pushing myself at all, just letting it take it's course

Lolli, Lilac is right. Don't push yourself, & as several of us always say, count the ones you don't smoke.

Lilac, Chrissie - Honestly I think of those words every day & that's why I'm still vaping Thing is, I just don't understand why I feel I still need them & crave them - it's ridiculous - the e cig definitely provides the nicotine so the addiction to tobacco doesn't make sense!!

lollipop, The addiction to smoking is such a subtle beast. It if were just the nicotine that chained us then NRT would have that sorted. E-cigs address most of the processes involved in smoking, the hand to mouth habit, producing vapour, ingesting nicotine etc, but I think we can underestimate the effects the other toxins have on our bodies and behaviour. I think it's great that you are still vaping and I would bet that, sometime soon, you'll find a juice that you really like, that tastes better than cigarettes ever did and you will find yourself choosing vaping over smoking. It doesn't matter how long that takes. Lynda.

(((((Scylla))))) Iris as long as it is not pink or yellow . lollipop These boogers put a lot of other much more addictive things in cigarettes than nicotine . As Chrissie said, take it easy you still need to smoke have one or two or three, dont beat yourself up about it. Its not a race, you dont need to proove anything to anyone here - you are who you are you do what you need to do its cool

Chrissie yes in general you are 100% correct the 901 is a great device for learning . If the OP smokes 10 - 20 Cigs a day it will be most likely the best option. If however they smoke 35 - 50 it will have them tearing their hair out in less than 10 days they will be out searching for a more satisfying device. Just thought to give them a chance to try one without it costing them anything if they dont like it.

Again I agree with you Keef. & your offer to Tony is brilliant Now where has he got to? I'm just thinking back to how much persuading Scylla had to do (plus me occasionally chipping in) on the Money saving forum to get Raggie to try an e-cig. Raggie, out of interest, do you think that if Scylla & myself had just given you links to buying an SD as a first e-cig you would have gone for it? Don't get me wrong folks, if over 18 months ago, I knew what I know now about e-cigs, I would have just gone & bought a GG & a Garry Dibly passthrough & saved myself some money. However, to begin with, like many other newbies, I wanted something that looked & felt similar to a real cig. Mainly because at the time I thought it would help me psychologically.

I do hope that Tony will keep posting, I hope he knows that "there's no such thing as a silly question" BTW, Chrissie, the MSE thread has gone very quiet Quite! Enquirers often say "I want something that looks like a real cig". Some are quite vehement about it. scylla

Agreed! The reason I loved the White EVOlution so much was that it was like a very elegant 'real' cigarette. I still enjoy using it now (yes, I still have the original battery and atty - they really are very good quality owing in part to the irritating cut-off switch). I keep my SD for home! Fox

Hi Guys
Sorry for not getting back, this forum stuff is all very new to me.
Firstly many thanks to all your replys / advice, too many to mention so I won't other than Chrisse- thanks for the birthday stuff and obviously keeping every-one in order . Nice to know there is some support out there.
Placed an order for a 501 (groans from some I feel) but a guys got to start somewhere I feel so there we go. I'm awaiting delivery and no doubt will be back in touch with some more 'stupid' questions which I'm sure will get a knowledgeable reply.
Thanks again to you all, love the 'banter'
Tony
