Hi all,
I know e-cigs are not touted as a replacement for "stinkies", but just wondered what your thoughts are on the health benefits of them considering this.
I'm off to the post office in a minute to pick up my newly ordered Riva kit (some of you gave me advice on a previous post at the weekend following my failed attempts with e-cigs a few years back). I've only been back smoking fully for about 6 months but following a cold last week I'm really feeling the effects and have had a nasty cough the last few days.
Hoping this new adventure will keep me off the stinkies and get my health back on track. I do suffer from mild asthma which makes me kick myself even more for starting smoking again. I've lost a couple of stone in the last year and smoking has helped me stop the snacking, so will be good to get the oomph back in my lungs to go with my decreased beer belly!
Thanks

Unfortunately e-cigs haven't been around long enough to know the long term effects on health, either positive or negative. However, there are plenty of members of this and other forums who have reported better breathing, loss of cough, more energy etc etc. Kirsty for example just completed another sponsored run. I find I don't get out of breath any more, I don't cough, I don't have yellow fingers, and I don't stink. Good enough for me!

Thanks, know there's no official studies into long term effects but like to hope there's very little chance those effects can be worst than breathing in toxic smoke 20 times a day! Have collected it now, looks like I might need a couple of hours to sit down with it and work out what's what!

I've been vaping for over 4 years Toby & had no ill effects from doing so. Just similar benefits to Oneday Have you got your Riva up & running?

Am at work so had to wait until I had a free moment and popped to the loo to fill up the clearomiser. Had a couple of drags on it a minute ago and wow! I can definitely say things have moved on in the three years since I tried an e-cig last time!
Have to say I was surprised at how big the whole thing is! I've been smoking roll ups so it's one heck of a change!

Toby,
There's been a study showing that vaping doesn't adversely affect the heart though there might be a slight loss in lung function. It also estimated that it takes 6/7 months of vaping to imbibe the toxins contained in ONE cigarette.
The study is preliminary as it hasn't been peer-to-peer reviewed yet & there is a link in the thread "e-cigs don't harm your heart..."
Good luck with the Riva.

Before I switched just over three months ago I had a persistant cough that would not go, it went within three days of vaping instead of smoking I've also got better circulation so yes it has to be better. Dave, PS Welcome to the forum

Simple really, one month on and I don't cough in the mornings and I don't wheeze at night.

48 hours in my sense of smell and taste came back with a vengeance. My morning cough was gone within a week, I can walk briskly up a stairs without wheezing now. My clothes and skin no longer stink of smoke. After an initial zit attack my skin looks better though is drier but face cream sorts that out. And all of this after just two weeks! Pam
