Well, just taken delivery of my Riva kit from Vapeescape. Have had a few drags on it from the clearomiser and very impressed. What stands out to me though is the sheer size of the thing. The last e-cig I tried a few years back was in the style of an actual cig. One of the things that put me off using it even then (apart from it just being crap) was is I'm honest the embarrassment and inevitable questions about it when using it. I'm not about to start puffing away at my desk so will continue to go down to my regular smoking area. In general I don't chat to people when I'm smoking as I see it as my quiet time away from the office. Wondering how other people overcame this hurdle. Imagine it'll be even more of an issue when out socialising, don't mind that all my mates will want to try it and ask about it but the hassle of strangers going on about it puts me off. I should point out if you haven't gathered it I'm a bit of a miserable so-and so

Toby I'm similar in that I'm not that comfortable flashing my e-cigs. However, I found that when I used it in the smoking shelter at work all I got was interest, no negatives in any way.

I don't expect negative comments to be honest (maybe when out and people have had a few too many sherberts), just rather get on with it unnoticed. Like to think it will become the norm one day, I've hardly ever seen anyone with an e-cig.

The positive is that it will not be mistaken for a Stinkie, I go around with a Lavatube and enjoy the interest it generates. It has got me chatting to a few people I did not know down at my local. I would think very soon you'll get used to the size, most do.

I was just going to say the same as Des - it's not going to be mistaken for a real cig. Lol if you think the Riva is big, you should see what some of us use

I used to think my Riva was big until I started using a black Ego Twist 900mah, makes the Riva look teeny, but I don't fear death eaters

I'm the same, for work I take a ciggy looky likey and fill it with juice before I go, I can't be a$$ed with the inevitable questions i'd get if I took my eGo-T which I use at home.

Agree with Ellen! I thought my Riva was big when i first got it, now it seems quite compact.
However i also have a mini ego that i take out when i want something more discreet, that's TINY. Maybe look into one of those?

Well, I shall see how I get on with it. Have had two fag breaks this afternoon and ashamed to say I bottled it both times and had a stinkie then a few drags of my Riva when nobody was looking! Still got half a pack of baccy left and I'll probably finish it off slowly over the next few days by alternating. Out Saturday night, which is a rarity for me and I'll be roadtesting my new toy!

I started with the Skycig, a look alike ciggy and folks thought I was either smoking or using a "give up smoking gimmick" thingy. It was okay and it, not only introduce me to vaping but got my off fags completely, so I am not going to knock it. But it just looked plain wrong to me. I vape because I want to vape and now I use a proper bit of vaping kit. Now folks think I am sucking on a fancy pen until they see the clouds of vapour and then they just look puzzled.

I was the same, now I dont care, I use a mini when out, they are very handy ( being hand sized ) Basically I only go to work or shopping so not many people see it. I've had a few glances in the street in town but that's about it.

I still use a (few) cig-likes at work just because they're a bit more common and it saves getting asked about it so I know where you're coming from however coming from London not too many people a phased by my Rivas but I actually find it fun enlightening the masses when I do get asked.
If you're really self conscious you could try the SD Keyring as it's tiny.
I should add however that you will get used to it, the taste and the throat hit compared to the cig-alikes are a different class.

When I first got mine I was quite shy and used a mini e-cig when out, but now I proudly wave my wand (twist) for all to see

I've posted about this before. I have had negative disparaging comments but only from people that I know who are smokers ??? I think it may be a bit jealousy as I was a very committed smoker so for me to have stopped is a massive biggie! Even though i've had these comments I very rarely use a cig-a-like as the battery power cannot be relied upon. On the odd occasion I've been at a function or in a pub I've had very favourable, inquisitive comments and feel that the publicans have welcomed the fact that my vaping set up looks nothing like a real cig! although some of the comments have been annoying at times, apart from venting on here occasionally, i just ignore them. I'm happy with my choice to vape rather than smoke
