Welcome folks My first e-cig was the incredible Riva 510 & I've never looked back. I use it with regular 510 atties as I find a loss in flavour if I use LR510s. The charger is a major + too, batteries charge up very quickly; however, I never leave it on overnight just to be on the safe side. It's advisable to buy more atties tho' as they tend to be quite tempramental & are disposable, so don't last too long. Any 901 atties will fit, you don't just have to stick with Tornado or Riva ones. So, have a shop around to find the cheapest. There is also a variety of cart fillings. Most of us buy blue foam from James, but people also use fluval which is filter filling in fish tanks. I, personally prefer the blue foam. However, any filling I buy, I wash first and dry it between kitchen roll. If you check out the review board, you will see a number of reviews of juices from different suppliers. I tend to stick with juices from James, but obviously you can try any supplier out there. It's advisable to order sample sizes first tho'. As has been said before, vaping is a learning curve & does take a bit of practice to get the hang of it. Although, most people still encounter problems from time to time. Luckily, this forum sorts those problems out, so never feel any question is stupid, it will have been asked before

Serena, it looks as though you are well on your way Now that you've got a starter kit you can experiment with juices (as well as other parts) to see what suits you best - who knows, the base liquid in the juices you've tried might not suit, it could be Propylene Glycol or Vegetable Glycerine or a mixture of the two in various proportions. See how you go scylla

thanks again all for the advice and support! Today it's getting better, not so harsh on my throat and no head rushes now so think it was maybe just a minor irritation and getting used to it, tho I'm sure I've still got a lot to learn. I'm only using it now and then at the moment, tho I have smoked less. It's just that I am going away tomorrow for a few days walking in Wales so don't want to have to take that on my walks with me and worry about losing it/damaging it / running out of battery etc etc! Oh and oooopppss! I've just spent £17 at paradise on some diff flavours!! Liquorice, caramel, strong cinnamon, spearmint and cherry tobacco!

My goodies have arrived at last!
Well, the sample liquids assortment actually arrived on Saturday so I've been trying them out; the Tornado arrived today. Some stupid person at RM sent it back to the sender instead of to me, so I was a bit displeased at having to pay postage again and intend to complain bitterly once I've got the implement sorted out!

Yes, it was the totallywicked one that was on an offer.
I wasn't sure where they were based with regard to the snow problems so I wasn't too concerned that it hadn't arrived. Then I got the email on Thursday telling me it had arrived back, so obviously it had never gone anywhere or it would still have been at our sorting office.
Anyway, it's here now. The instructions say you can either press the button for manual or just draw on it for automatic but I haven't fathomed out how to do that, it only seems to work when the button is pressed.
Not that it really matters, of course.

You've got a manual battery by the sound of it Jammy, so it will only work with the button depressed, I should imagine that TW put instructions for both models in the box to save on printing costs.
Worth having a 'grumble' at TW if you had a mind to, as there's been a hiccup somewhere with their despatch system.

Jammy, so sorry to hear you have had problems with your goodies being delivered It's not usually like that, most good vendors aim for next day delivery - weather conditions permitting. Perpy is right, the Tornado, it will be a manual e-cig so yes, you need to press the button to activate it. To help you get started - check out this video : -

My Amo from Simon still hasn't arrived. I had a "You were out" card in my postbox on SUNDAY > I rearranged delivery on the RM site for Wednesday last - nothing. I've got about 4 things from 2+ weeks ago missing. Just sayin'... scylla

Hi Serena and Jam, great to see you got here.
I was a heavy roll up smoker, 20 - 40 a day depending on mood and weather. I've been smoke free for 6 months now thanks to the Riva initially, now my Screwdriver.
Good luck and happy ecigging x

hello all, a new member here.
ok, i smoke about 30 ciggies a day, and want to try e-cigs. never tried them before.
can someone reccomend a starter pack, and what else i might need?
after using a starter pack, what is the next step if any?
i have tried to read a few adverts online, but can make no sense of them in truth.
thanks

Hello & welcome Fatdaddy Have a look at our photos & videos thread to help you understand the e-cig & see pics of some of the different models. Before recommending a particular model to you, let us know if the size of the e-cig matters to you. Bear in mind that the smaller ones (similar size to a real cig) will need the batteries charging more often than the larger models. The 2 main next steps after buying a starter kit is to get a stock of e-liquid & atomisers in.
