Thanks Brambles for the tips. I will try them useful tips tomorrow. I was just wrapping the wire around the wick and using a needle for support. It did seem that the 5 wraps was able to fit in the post but that's when I start to lose the plot.

Excellent. I have a lot of funky-taste from new wicks. I've been burning them with a big "kitchen" lighter but they still take too long to sort out.

Well another 3 attempts.0.2 A 9.9 and then there was a shine of light, one of the vaping gods ( a guardian angel ) appeared, I was startled at first, but then the voice of calmness told me to relax. I was guided on the third attempt and oh so looking good, so nice and tidy, The voice said to me, see what you can do when your relaxed, I said oh thank you vaping god, voice then said why don't you try it. I said ok, I give it a go in a scottish accent, then almost by power and and a beam of light, the multimeter was shouting 2.5 ohms and the coil was glowing. I was then told by the voice why don't you fill the nova up at which I replied, yes it would be like a celebration vape. I got the ry4 out dripped it into the nova about halfway, had a tidy up before relaxing as there was so much crap on the table like meters wires wicks and nova's. After clearing up the mess, the voice said I must go now but I will stay untill you vape again, well guess F**K**G what, the ohm reading went to 9.9. I told the vaping god to shut the F**k up and do one. I then stuck the old nova back on top as that was showing 2.2.
Moral of the story is that don't waste nearly a day if you can't do it, don't believe that saying "try and try again" practice makes perfect and definitely don't listen to f***********ng voices in your head.

Nice walk through Des, did you ever double coil a Nova?, incredible amount of vapour from it

I struggled a little on my 1st few atempts but began to find it easy,
what I use is a small clamp cuz I have big fingers , I clamp the needle the wick and wire together at one end, It makes it so simple to do the coils. I made up ten new heads at the weekend all coming out at 2.1 ohms . just keep trying you will get there.

robby, How did you double coil a nova, did you lay two coils and wicks above each other or on the same wick....just can't see how it would fit in and if in the same wick I would have thought it would just burn?

Its a different head Brambles. Just got mine (from Viking) - definite improvement.

Wow great post and very glad I have come accross this.

Might try and revive one of my dead nova heads when my 5m of wick and 5m of wire turns up

that little magnifyer looks great. I think my grandad has one that I use to use back when I did a microelectronics module at uni so will grab that next time I go up to sunny Birmingham

I am sure you didnt get in a car first time and could drive?. So no difference with this.

Sorry Stamina, went off topic a bit there, back to your problem.

It really sounds like your getting shorts so think that some thinner wire might help. I use .16 Kanthal for the novas because of the space shortage, & 3 wraps is usually enough to get approx 2.0 ohms. Got you a couple of piccies just to highlight.



Need to subtract .3 from the reading



A member on here, deesigner, has some .15 nichrome which would work just as well . . . . can be bought here, fantastic price & excellent service, also check out page 6 so you know not just my opinion

Did you recoil the double coil X-heater robbie? I don't know how you'd do it. Does it come apart? Did you use pre-coiled wick?
