I'm back. Can we change the subject to severe heartburn? Was going to take a ginger capsule but I've only ever taken one single one before and it nearly set my stomach on fire Just re-read the instructions and it says "do not take on an empty stomach", hmmm. So I've had the buttered crust of a freshly baked loaf, but am still too scared to take the ginger scylla Scylla, some years ago I used to suffer terribly from heartburn, was back and forward to doctors and of course it was put down to acid reflux caused by stress at that time. The remedy that worked for me and I rarely ever get heartburn now was peppermint oil capsules. Took them about a week to clear it up. They are reasonably cheap and you can get them in most chemists. What i used to do before discovering peppermint oil especially at bedtime if I had a bad bout was to have a slice of burnt toast and a glass of milk. This is only a temporary measure but it helped me get to sleep. Apparently its the charcoal in the toast that helps to neutralise the acid. Peppermint is cooling but ginger has a warming effect so I don't think its a good idea to use this although its good for nausea and sickness. Hope this helps as continuous heartburn is dreadful. If that fails of course see the Doc in case there is an underlying other reason for it. Ken. x

Yes, it's the charcoal from the burnt toast - I didn't think of that even though years ago I bought charcoal tablets recommended by the doc - they were really horrible to chew, set one's teeth on edge I originally bought the ginger caps because they were recommended for indigestion ??? A month or so ago I was put on some tablets by the doc for two weeks after my "do" with the chest pains/ambulance, just in case it was reflux connected. But nothing that's happened since has resembled the ambulance incident. There are a lot of things I could do to make myself less vulnerable but I'm on strike, self-control and activity wise, so I'll order some peppermint oil from eBay I've got a cheesecake coming for Christmas Thanks for all the advice, Kenny. NUTS!Did I mention that I threw nuts (whole nuts in shell) out of the window for a squirrel yesterday? He didn't take a blind bit of notice, but this morning the snow is more footprints than smooth snow - then I saw him pottering about looking so he must have found some. So I threw out 3 walnuts, he picked up the third one, had a brief snuffle at it and carried it off into the trees Then came back for more, but he's not very good at finding them. scylla

Lisa, I'd never have guessed you were "one of us" because you're so bright and alert I don't think I'm depressed, just a miserable, tired person who reacts to negative situations too easily Regarding where we met, some of us met originally thru the eBay Q&A thread about e-cigs and Chrissie set up the eBay group. Some of the others were already members of eBay groups together but I wasn't. Then eBay banned e-cigs so Chrissie set up this board for us to migrate to. I went to a therapist for years and years but it seemed like I was theraping him a lot of the time. Then the practice put their foot down because they had such a long waiting list and I wasn't "changing". At least it used to get me out once a week, now I'm a total hermit scylla Nothing wrong with being a Hermit, I've not been out for over a week lol.

Lisa, have you tried Bach's Rescue Remedy, for the anxiety ?? I met Chrissie on ECF and the rest of the nice members, when I joined here. We got about an inch of snow last night, I guess it's our turn now. Did I mention that I hate snow ??

It's snowing now Chrissie, m'lady. I don't like it, but it's nothing that I can't handle, I just hope we don't lose our electric power. I may not be on the forums much tomorrow, if I have to clean up this mess.

Awe Jerry, I feel for you. We have not had any more snow, but it is freezing. It is too treacherous for me to go out. The roads don't seem so bad but not many of the pavements have been gritted, so they are sheets of glass. Hope it's not too bad for you. MM
