Ditto from me Lisa . . . we've been very fortunate round here, compared to what I'm seeing on the news - don't know how long this will last for though.

We are expecting a big snowstorm here, Sunday night into Monday. One of our infamous nor'easters. I hope it all goes out to sea.

Think the weather patterns are changing everywhere. This time last year I was still in my shorts and temp 25c. This last week we have had non stop thunder storms with torrential rain and temp 10c. On a brighter note next week is back up to 20c. Keep warm you guys.

So beautiful to see, so awful to suffer We rarely get the extremes here that you do. I do remember one winter in the 80s when I felt like Scott of the Antarctic as I battled to get to work, there was something special about that one, a real blizzard. scylla

I saw that too, Perpy. It has been colder than normal, throughout the U.S. Even the residents of the southern part of the country are complaining about the cold weather. Kenny, the temperatures here have been below freezing for over a week. It's too early for this kind of weather. Scylla, we still talk about the "Blizzard of '78". Four feet of snow fell in two days, the whole area was crippled for a week. Our weather here in New England, is greatly influenced by the Atlantic Ocean. I have had to deal with snow all of my life, it may be pretty, but it's cold, wet and a bloody nuisance.

Further to my post on the Strictly thread - it has now stopped snowing. BUT the traffic has only just started to move. It has been nose to tail from the Tonbridge to Tunbridge Wells direction, really hardly moving at all. Just seen it on the news - if they do get into the Wells they can't get out again - what a mess. It's my daughter's firm (Solicitors) 'do' tonight - I don't think anyone will get there. It happened to them last year and they had to cancel until January. Will have to see what we wake up to tomorrow - doesn't sound too good. MM

Jerry, I'm guessing your part of the US deals with this sort of weather better than we do? Here in the SW of England (& the South in general) it's fairly unusual to get snow. Even up North, folks aren't use to the amount of snow/ice we are getting, so the UK's grinding to a halt We just aren't geared up to cope with it.

Chrissie, we are used to it and we are prepared for it. It's not that this weather is unusual for us, it's just that it's a bit too early for it.
A historical point, when the first colonists came to this area in 1620, they expected the weather to be the same as in England, since we are both on the same latitude. Half of them died, the first winter here.

On the car roofs, which have been stationary all day, there is about three inches.
The pavements are still covered and if they freeze over tonight, they will be treacherous to walk on, probably are already - I'm not going anywhere!!!
It all happened so suddenly - I did take some pics - I will have a look tomorrow to see if I can put any on here.
Nite Nite all. MM xx

wow...i've really been lucky so far, didn't get it as bad as James did a couple of weeks ago, even tho we only live maybe 20 mins apart... and no snow at the min, according to the weather report, the snow will likely miss us altogether.....i hope
