I don't think they can be put in a dishwasher, although some of that type of gadget have a removable heating element - but I think that's some of the deep-fat fryers ??? These pans are advertised as being "wipe-clean" very often on the telly. I haven't got any kind of electric cooking pan. Aha! Yes I have, up in the cupboard over the cooker - a rice cooker which hasn't been used for 20 years I learned to cook white basmati in an ordinary saucepan from my No1 Ex's Sri Lankan family. scylla

Thank you, young lady. The only electric cooking appliance I have is a slow cooker (crock pot). The inside is removable, so that can go in the dishwasher, but the outside is hand wash only.

I did have one of those, then my brother bought a bigger one so I gave mine to my friend. But the bigger one turned out to be a very fast slow cooker that burnt food in the base if one wasn't very careful. Just been watching a bio-pic about Enid Blyton (famous here as a children's author), who ended up with dementia - I'm beginning to wonder about myself, the number of times I have to edit my posts in the name of accuracy and/or honesty scylla

You seem perfectly normal to me Scylla....that's assuming that I am perfectly normal, otherwise we may both have dementia. Jerry

Just took a break. I heartily dislike Julia McKenzie as Miss M, and am fed up with the American hooks - meaning, bits added to please American viewers, as if they couldn't appreciate the genuine article. And nearly all these new ITV productions have to have gays and lesbians in them for the sake of titillation and modernity. Nothing wrong with gays and lesbians in real life, but sticking them into period dramas where they didn't exist originally is cheap, IMO. Signed, Soap-box scylla

Hmmm - not getting very far am I?!! I know what I want, but whether it exists is another matter. I just fancy a 'real' fried egg!! Where the white spreads out thinly. Even in cafes they are sort of sanitised - all nice and neat and compact!! I haven't had one for many years so I guess a few more won't matter!! Think I am reverting to my childhood. Thanks to all for trying. Jerry, I love my slow cooker - shove everything in it and it feeds me for days!! www.freesmileys.org/custom/image/blue%5E_%5Earial%5E_%5E0%5E_%5E0%5E_%5EFRIED EGG WANTED!!%5E_%5E.gif[/img] mm

Aha, so you don't like Americans. LOL. What kind of hooks, Scylla ??? Americans are rather like Brits - there's good and bad No, it's not Americans I don't like, it's TV producers who pander to perceived American requirements, grrr. That reminds me, I must look for fellow-feeling on the TV forums, I'm feeling isolated in my fuming. scylla

I'll have fume with you Scyll. I really dislike the big, glossy productions of Agatha Christie. I almost had a problem following that one last night - all too loud. Fortunately, I had it on record so go backwards now and then. Also to cut out the wretched LOUD adverts. I think I prefer Agatha and Poirot in black and white!! MM

I was just teasing ya, Scylla. I don't need nor want anything "American" to be added to the British shows that I watch. They are fine just the way they are. I don't know if Americans are still portrayed in this manner, but in some of my favorite older shows, most notably "Are You Being Served?" and "Fawlty Towers", Americans have been portrayed as crude, combative, cowboy types. I am sure that it was done for the comedy effect, but I don't even own a cowboy hat or string necktie. LOL.

There are also small 4 inch ? egg frying pans, that keeps the egg more compact, but not thick. I have one and I like it very much. Jerry
