Thank you Jerry. But is it a stand alone electric frying pan ? 'Cos I don't have a conventional cooker. If there is a 4 inch electric pan, please buy it for me and send it over!!! I will 'lurve' you forever!!! MM

Ok ladies, you are losing me with your British English. LOL I assume that a "hob" and "conventional cooker" means a cooking stove.
Scylla, I know what a dog's mother is, but a cat's mother ??
Who joined you in CloudCuckooLand ??? (probably me, lol).
Yes, Scylla I can shoot, but haven't done so in many years. The only shooting I do now is with a camera. Sorry, not a cowboy, never rode a horse either. LOL
MM, I will look around and if I can find a 4 or maybe 6 inch electric fry pan, I will let you know.

I'll only confuse things more if I try to enlighten you, Jerry, so I won't Lynda's induction hob is the cheapest I've seen for a while @ £43 including delivery. When you get your new place maybe there will be space for one. Let us know and we will all (well, I will for one) google madly for the best/cheapest for your needs, MM If only they'd sell those mini electric pans here > Too small a population, I spose. Am going to set up an eBay search "just in case" Jerry, has my display glitched or did you go monochrome earlier? scylla

Ah, I've reproduced it by tipping my screen backwards. EDIT - it wasn't exactly a cop-out, I'm trying to rake it up... when we, as kids, called anyone "she", we used to get the retort/reprimand " She is the cat's mother"... I think ??? scylla

Lynda - those links are very interesting. Now at the risk of being a dumbo - I guess a small frying pan is needed - you don't just break the egg on to the hub?? (Don't laugh!!).
I wish the first link had put sizes - but I can't find them anywhere?? Can you? I have looked at other links suggested on there, I'm certain I will find something now.
I will leave it till tomorrow though - rather than rush in straight away. Your second link is excellent too, as you say 'shame it's not here'
I have to be out in the morning but will have a thorough look again - I'm sure I will buy something.
Thank you - you brilliant peeps!! Nite, nite for now. MM
P.S. If I do need a frying pan for one of those - will it need a reinforced base?
Yes 'She' is the cat's mother Scyll - still doesn't make any sense though!! Oh, I won't wait till I've moved - I want one now!!!

"Who's she, the cat's mother?" is what I remember.... Was never entirely sure what was meant by that except that it was very ill mannered....

I had many a red ear from referring to my mother as 'she' in front of the father!!! Fox

who's 'she', the cat's mother?Definition from Wiktionary, the free dictionary Jump to: navigation, search [edit] English[edit] PhraseWho's 'she', the cat's mother?
(idiomatic, somewhat dated, UK) A rebuke especially directed towards children for having referred to their mother, or any other woman in the third person, instead of using a properly respectful title or their name when appropriate. - Where is your mother? - She's making tea in the kitchen. - Who's 'she', the cat's mother? - Mother is making tea in the kitchen. Retrieved from "http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/who%27s_%27she%27,_the_cat%27s_mother%3F" Categories: English phrases | English idioms | British English | English rhetorical questions

We didn't have a problem with referring to our mothers as "she". Only got into trouble, referring to them as "she who must not be named". LOL Thank you Lynda and thank you Scylla. Jerry Has anyone heard from Chrissie today ?? She has been too quiet, I hope she is ok.

Lynda - those links are very interesting. Now at the risk of being a dumbo - I guess a small frying pan is needed - you don't just break the egg on to the hub?? (Don't laugh!!). Are we talking about an induction hob, like wot I mentioned earlier that I got for £23 but are too dear now and wot Lynda has found for £43? If so, yes, you need a little frying pan and you need to take care that it is "inductionable" - the symbol for that is like a coiled spring lying on its side and you may see it on the bottom of pans, tho' my Lidl's ss saucepan has something different, but they'm foreigners tut! Of course, you can get cheap imitations of Le Creuset which work great on induction, all cast iron does, but you need to be careful because it's heavy and not as smooth as a baby's bum so you're more likely to damage your surface with that than with stainless steel. Aluminium is no good at all unless it's got a layer on the bottom that a magnet will cling to - that's the test for "inductionable". I think you're most likely to find suitable small pans in Lidl and Aldi, but of course they'll be weekly "specials", not available all the time. (The ones I've found have been too expensive.) An induction hob it a blessing because of the timer, and (usually) the many gradations of heat, and because it is so CLEAN and easy to keep clean too. Dear oh dear I just can't sleep. And it's dawned on me that I forgot to say - if you were interested in the induction hob that Lynda pointed to, we'd need to check out the brand and the retailer as far as poss. I think this is the same one on eBay, business seller, loads already sold, £40 inclusive: cgi.ebay.co.uk/Brand-New-Andrew-James-Digital-Electric-Induction-Hob-/280587568125?pt=UK_Home_Garden_Kitchen_Ovens_Hobs_Cookers&hash=item41545283fdscylla

Hi Scyll, yes that is the same one as Lynda's. There are still NO measurements, so have sent a CAM.
His feedback overall looks quite good. As you say, he has sold quite a few of these, some very recent - all give good feedback.
So will wait to see if I get a reply.
This is just a quick 'pop-in' between dealing with RL - will be back later. Cheers Luv MM
