Right Scyll, thank you for reminding me that I will need oil!! Just found a half-used bottle of Crisp & Dry in my cupboard!! Goodness knows when I last used it or what for! The label says 'Vegetable Oil - 100% Rapeseed oil' - so I guess that will be okay. BUT, I will buy a new one!! Just remembered what I used it for - I would pour it on bacon when cooking it in the George Foremen grill and pretend it was fried!! Think I'd better buy a dozen eggs 'cos I'm bound to mess up trying everything out! Got to figure out how to use the induction hob first!! I know I'm getting old now, 'cos I hate new things!! Jerry, I'll chuck a couple of eggs over (when I've bought 'em) then I will expect your kingdom in return! Couldn't find a cooking smilie, so thought I'd paint a picture instead!! MM

Yup, Scyll, it's called Canola oil on this side of the pond. If it was called rapeseed, the politically correct crowd would be screaming bloody murder that it was insensitive and disrespectful to seeds. Pictures, MM we want pictures of your eggcelent masterpiece.

It all is getting too complicated, Scyll. I like some of the new technology but I miss the simplicity of the "old days".

And I don't understand "receivers/amps/tuners" And they want to bundle in blu-ray/cd etc. Like you said, it's complicated. So for simplicity's sake I bought a soundbar, but it doesn't cut it scylla

Scyll, a receiver receives the signal, be it from a radio station, cd player, etc.
An amp or amplifier is needed with a receiver, to increase the volume of the sound, so you can hear it. The older equipment had built in amplifiers, unless they were "decks", which were just receivers and didn't have a built in amplifier.
The tuner, "tunes" in the signal or station, like the old radio "slide rule" tuners.
In the good old days, all these were in the one unit, like the old tube (valve) radios. Plug it in, turn it on and tune in your favorite radio station. Now it seems that all the parts are sold separately, including the speaker(s).

I think that's consolidated my understanding, Jerry, which I was kinda getting around to myself but everybody on consumer electronics forums takes it for granted and uses so much jargon. I still can't understand why the components can be so expensive though - thousands Definitely bedtime now. scylla
