I made a stupid mistake, I didnt disassemble and reassemble it myself, and it leaked really badly over night Gonna leave it now until my wire gets here and give it another go, I know I got the wick done well, masses of juice being sucked up, but I should have assembled it / checked assembly myself, and I think I too was guilty of coiling it too tightly.... never mind, you live and you learn, next time

I started with about 9.5cm in width of 500 mesh and went for a pretty tight wrap as you can see, it took a good 15mins to wrap. I have no idea of the length because I trimmed it when I fitted it. It wicks extremely well. Hell 95mm ok thats 500# mesh I only have 400# so will try 1/2 of that 40mm high x 45mm see what that looks like problem is my mesh hasn't arrived yet so hoping the mesh company are friends with the post office and it gets here tomorrow as I only have a bit left.

I got my Aga-T this morning. A simple fix for those who want to implement it and are bothered by the center post being plated: Combine idea by Perpetua and I.. 1. Disassemble the Aga and punch out the end off a long carto condom using the cartomizer itself to make it nice and neat.. 2. Fit the center post to the base and slide the condom on nice and tight: 3. Fit it back all together..(Looks bigger than it really is due to the refraction of the PC Tank). Reduces tank capacity slighty but zero contact with the center post:

It must be a fluke as I've yet to come up against any probs with mesh wick that haven't lasted more than a few minutes. All I can say is I use 100 percent vg to layer the wick several times. Maybe 6 or 7 burns. I don't dip it in water during these burns. I ensure the wick is sponging liquid, (or wicking) at the end of this.
I use .20 kanthal
If i get a hotspot at the top, i nudge the top towards tge post, or away from it, or to the left or right.
I leave about 4 mm of over hang of wire from the top post (careful it doesnt touch anything). So i have something to grab hold of to make any adjustments. Sometimes i can simply bend this overhang in another direction, or extend that overhang by unwrapping from the centre post slightly and that has killed the hotspot.
Hope that helps, but maybe im just lucky.

Do you mean you use VG to quench the red hot wick? Dipping in VG then re-heating?
Thanks - Bob

Blakey, I am in awe of your awesomeness, I have never considered using so much mesh, so after seeing your post I spent some time preparing a 90 x 40mm 500 mesh, I didn't oxidise it until it was wrapped round a paper clip (one of the thicker paper clips not a standard one) by heating it up over 5 slow passes and slowly turning, letting each pass cool naturally, soaked it in e-liquid no less than 5 times (it holds almost half a ml of juice on its own before saturation), and burned it off.
The wick was now a perfect fit into the hole with only the slightest bit of friction, having a screwdriver of the exact same width I used the Petar Kay method to coil. It went almost perfect, only had to actually take the tension off the top wrap of the coil slightly.
So a perfectly straight wick (of many wraps) and approximately 6ml of wire hanging in the air (so to speak) between the posi post and the wick, not a single hotspot.
Wicking like a dream.
I salute you, many thanks.

Example of overhang. You can see the wire sticking out and down from the brass nut. Scott YouTube videos whereby he twists and snaps off that wire flush may look good (and let's face it, it feels good when we do it) don't help with making adjustments.

Thanks - Bob No, I I heat to red hot then quench in water several times (maybe 3 or 4) Then I burn of the water only, and drip vg down the length. Light it with a yellow flame lighter. Watch it burn off and extinguish naturally. Another line of vg, burn off and extinguish naturally etc etc I repeat that many times. Then, in as per macca video. I hold the wick flat horizontal. I slowly drip several drops onto the tip of the wick only. Watch the wick magically sponge up the vg to the opposite end. Light it, and watch the flame burn down to the opposite end and the wick is ready.
