Try 45 x 60 mm to make a wick 45 mm tall..Roll the wick to roughly 2.5 mm diameter.. If you want to try a Blakey special, you'll need fingers of steel..

Just realised I had enough wire left to try 1 more rewick, so did this, but this time I just cant get rid of the hot spot on the lead to the positive at the top leaned the wick right over until it was almost touching the post, hardly any lead at all, still got the hot spot, just a smaller hot spot

Drip a few drops of juice directly on the hot spot and fire it a few times and/or move the coils about slightly..

Drip a few drops of juice directly on the hot spot and fire it a few times and/or move the coils about slightly.. I saw that you'd recommended that earlier to someone else so had already tried it, it stops glowing initially, but soon starts glowing again. I've moved the coil around loads, even to the point of unscrewing it and resetting it closer to the centre post. I don't know if anyone else has tried the wire that came with them, if so, has anyone else had problems with it, or is it good, and I'm just crap?

Ahhh pants, there's a little kink in the wire just after it leaves the wick... Is that having an effect? BTW I'm really enjoying tinkering with this, thanks again macca (and Perps)

I've just set mine up. My wick hole is 180 degrees out so i've used the conection on the other side and put my wick in the filler hole. Works very well, better than i expected to be honest. I will sand the cap down sometime this weekend and make a wider wick.

I've just been gazing at mine and hoping for meshmail... I've just set mine up. My wick hole is 180 degrees out so i've used the conection on the other side and put my wick in the filler hole. Works very well, better than i expected to be honest. I will sand the cap down sometime this weekend and make a wider wick. The air hole on mine is 180°-ish out too so was thinking about sanding the cap down. A quick look at the inside rim of the cap reveals that it's bevelled (for better contact with the o-ring?) so I fear that the seal may not be perfect if I grind the cap down enough to get another half turn on it. Ie: that the o-ring will not fit inside the un-bevelled inside diameter of the cap. Has anyone taken the plunge yet?

Sand it down with some wet and dry..Does not take much for it to align the hole though sanding down SS will take a little time..
It'll be fine with sealing..I think Roger did his.
Alternatively You can use the fill hole on the other side for your mesh and the terminal post for the ground and put a small bung/cocktail stick/small tightly rolled up piece of mesh on the original wick hole to seal the tank.. Your wick will have to be slightly thinner So go for a 45 x 40mm piece of mesh to make your wick..

Yes, just to confirm, I did wet & dry, no problems with sealing, as Macca says you are only taking off a gnats tadger really.
