I will be interested in this too as I thought the same,in that,it has no wicking ability, after burning it three times no matter how loose I wound the coil,I threw it in my bottom draw and decided to look for something else

The plot thickens (as does the water probably) Did three separate boils of about twenty minutes each and it's dried overnight. I'll retest its wicking abilities tonight in a cup of purple squash so I can see if capillary action is occurring. I bet you can hardly wait for the outcome... I am interested in the outcome, really just to see if it does improve. It would show that the wick is treated in some way. Could be useful for others thinking of buying.

I'll be happy as a PiS if it does work, as it's cheap as chips compared to silica.

Ok, just did the purple squash test and the squash rose approximately 6.5cm in 15 minutes.
Stuck it in a Vivi head with both ends touching the bottom with 1ml squash in the tank, and it took approximately 1.5 minutes for the coil (if it was coiled) to get wet.
Obviously this will be different with juice, but I'm happy that it's at least wicking at all.
I'll maybe give the juice a go tomorrow as I'm currently reboiling to see if I can supercharge the wicking.

Sounds promising, at least it's wicking(ish) now.

Can I lump on your thread and ask a totally new question? IF not please feel free to delete mods! I had a go at recoiling a head following an instruction video, coil, through centre hole, one through bung one just down side of it but off excess exactly as told. Powered it up, it went pop and didn't work anymore - what did I do wrong??! ALso when I took original coil out it was stuck in a funny fabric casing which I wasn't told I had to reuse but wondering now if I should have?

Nope ratfinkz (I've just gotten the hang of this )... I'd guess you left to long a thread on the outside after putting the bung and the stopper in. I suggest cutting at close as you can to the stopper using nail clippers (cheapest thing I've found for cutting wire ) will help Also what sort of wire did you use? I'm currently on 15mm nic chrome and that needs about 5 coils or so on 2mm silica wick on a 2.4ohm head. I coil using a pin as a guide (cos I'm not very good at it ) So no you don't need the mesh stuff in the fabric casing (I tried making my own LOL...interesting) but you do need to make sure it doesn't short... Check out my threads allaboute-cigarettes.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=general&thread=12334&page=2#263621 (for videos etc and I think Macca's wisdom ) and also - allaboute-cigarettes.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=general&thread=13200&page=1#265007and that should get you up and running (Did me ).. Also if it burns you need to first fray it right where it goes into the atomiser head using a darning needle or similar (?cocktail stick?) and then make sure the atomiser is really wet before you test it. Post test you need to take it off and wash it and dry it before you use it... I know it's an awful faff but it saves £££ which can be spent on shineys Also to get the bung off (not always very easy) I use pliers (round nose) I got off ebay and I use embroidery or braiding scissors to cut my wick... Hope that helps Jane PS. All knowledge gained on this post is gotten from the wonderful folk that are ye - at AAEC!!!

I am of course not being serious. There will hopefully be other more experienced folk along to help if they're not avoiding the thread due to my ramblings, but have you checked that your wire isn't touching the sides of the head, as I believe this causes a short? That fabric you mention can be used to prevent this as it sits as a buffer between your coil and the head, so probably worth a try, although it will disintegrate after a whole. Worth checking also that the positive wire (the one that comes through the rubber grommet) isn't touching the sides of the head on its way down to the bottom. I think I got that all correct. Edit: all that and I got beaten to it.

tee hee Moon - but you made some useful points about the wires not twisting etc..... So you could have done worse

Thank you very much! Will the head still be usable with a different coil or will it all be deaded? Not sure re what wire it was but was told 5 coils is approx 2.4ohm so that's what I did. I also use a pin to coil but did remove it lol!!!

How are you testing the resistance, or aren't you, as the wire will make a big difference?

It's called a multimeter.
Honestly, for the price of the heads, I would just buy spare heads and use them..Making coils for small heads like the NOVA is more trouble than it is worth..Ok you may save a bit, but it's not all that much. You probably will save around £3.50 a month, if that.
