I gave up on IE long ago when it got too bloated to be functional, and swapped to Firefox. I'm now finding that none too quick, plus the latest release (17) doesn't work properly with Proboards. I do, however, love Adlock Plus
Any decent alternatives that others can recommend? Chrome? Opera? Whatever?

yea ad block plus is great, having 2 browsers is nice too, like block flash on one of them and that speeds things up quite a bit and stops some virusses from entering opera is not too bad, I think it had bad memory leaks at one time but is alot better now. I can't remember if chrome or safari for windows was based on ie so shared the same engine as it, havnt used em lately so forgot

Chrome for my desktop ( lightning quick ) , and Dolphin for my tablet. Both with great addons if required for ad removal etc, I was the same with Firefox and IE, never looked back ( yet )

I choose which one I use depending on what I need it for. Firefox normally then chrome and occasionally IE if all else fails. I tried Safari but wasn't that impressed on PC.

Chrome ... only use the others work applications that may not be compatible. Opera for mobile devices

I use Chrome and occasionally Firefox on desktop (rarely IE for compatibility testing at work, but I hate it.) I use Chrome and Dolphin on my phone, but mainly Chrome because I like the syncing with the desktop version.

Firefox is falling a bit behind Chrome at the moment though I have loads of favourites and passwords that I need to transfer over from FF to Chrome, but defo Chrome is the better choice for someone looking to switch.

Chrome will probably go the same way as FF, FF had used to be a great browser (even better with Fasterfox addon), but as already pointed out it got too bloated by default to cater for the people who dont know that addons create a better experience and adding them by default. IE is just targeted by the hackers too much because of its popularity, causing it to get too bloated with security fixes.

I installed Chrome this afternoon Macca and it transferred all my favs, history, passwords, everything from FF in about 30 seconds

Firefox forever, you'd never catch me using any other especially not IE or Chrome. Main reason for using firefox is it's so easy to customise it to suit yourself and it is run by like-minded people and not a snooping org that want's to know all your business and track your activity.
