I think the differences are - V2 Better bottom cap spring Remembers the setting when changing the battery (not sure on this) Has metal buttons

V1 had plastic buttons, no insulator on +ve connection, weaker spring and an error on the 6W setting that produced more like 13W
The V2 has chrome buttons, an insulator on the +ve, a more powerful spring and remembers settings after changing the battery ( not 100% sure of the remembering settings ).
Be careful though. There are Vamo's being sold as V2's (by reputable vendors) that seem to be a hybrid. They have metal buttons, the insulator on the +ve (not sure if the spring has been changed as I can't find a picture of the older spring) But the 6W bug is still there and they don't remember settings.

I have seen the V1's with the insulating washer, mine has one and I have a V1.

Yes seems to be lots of variations out there. Lack of insulation washers seem to be the biggest problem, due to short circuits. The 6W bug is annoying if you forget about it, also burnt out a few coils because of it. I think it's the price we pay for wanting cheap stuff from China

too late for that pal..stalking the postman as we speak You probably have the 6W bug then, see the What is a Hot Spring thread for a link to a really good replacement spring. With the new spring installed the battery doesn't rattle any more and it doesn' loose connection when you shake it.
