Indeed - I shall be meeting with my MP today at her surgery, and will be following up with emails, and postal correspondence, sent signed-for. Same with my MEPs - meetings already tentatively arranged.

I blanket mailed the MEP's for London as well as my local MP. Got a response from one of them today saying he did not sit on the board in the EU looking at this but he would raise the issue with the relevant MEP.

I wrote to my MEP & MP, havent heard from the MEP.............. but got a letter this morning from the MP................. to say that he has copied and pasted from a transcript by a former health minister would be an undestatement........... it is word for word............ my MP states near the end of the letter that "The available data suggests that there can be great variability in the content of electronic cigarettes, both in the amount of nicotine and other potentially toxic substances

He finishes with that he will write to Anna Soubry MP, Parlimentary Under-Secretary of State at the DoH to raise my concerns and will get back to me in the future!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously............ I knew he was a berk........ but this takes the biscuit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think we need to not only write to our MP and MEP with our personal interestes, but also ask them to inform us what their intentions with regards eCigs are, and how they intend to vote on the proposed EU amendments.

If there is any way to maintain a public list of voting intentions, that might also bring some pressure to bear. Particularly where MPs indicate they will vote on banning eCigs, it might encourage other forum members in the same constituency into engaging with decision makers that might need more information on the benefits of eCigs v burning tobacco.

My wife emailed the following to both our MP and MEP the week I started vaping. Knowing what we know now, and having read the EU proposals, we would probably amend it a bit... Also it seems Pharma are more of a threat than tobacco?

You are my MP and I need your help.
Electronic cigarettes are much safer than traditional smoking tobacco, and my husband uses them to stop him smoking normal cigarettes.
But the tobacco companies see a threat and want electronic cigarettes banned. Please can you make sure that traditional cigarettes get pushed out of the market by every means possible - and that includes letting the market for electronic cigarettes thrive in the European Union and the United Kingdom.
If you won't be using your vote and influence to ensure electronic cigarettes can be marketed in the EU and UK, please let me know why straight away. I'd really like to meet you to discuss this if you have any doubts about how important this is.
