Hello all. Glad to have found this forum. Just thought I would introduce myself and ask a few questions at the same time. I have been a smoker for over 40 years. I did manage to stop 3 years ago but have relapsed over the last 12 months and am now smoking 2 half corona cigars a day. I am seriously considering e-cigarattes as an alternative and would appreciate any help or advice anyone can give me on products, liquids batteries, etc. I have been looking at various products on liberty flights site and seem to be going round in circles. Which product do you think would be best for me. A push in the right direction would be really helpful. I am not on too tight a budget as this would be offset by my not buying cigars. Cheers

Hiya
I'm not going to start suggesting which products to use, because A) I'm a total novice myself and B) I have no idea about e-cigars vs e-cigs. I did however want to welcome you to the forum and I know you will get lots of good advice from the lovely members here!
As for generally switching from smoking to vaping, It took me 1 week. The first week I went from 20 a day, to 3 in the week, and by the 2nd week I was completely smoke free. In fairness I think the 3 I had that first week were because I was on too weak a nicotine strength, and had to battle a bit to overcome the cravings. Switching to a higher formula made all the difference!
I'm currently using 2 kits.
1- a kr808d-1 kit with 3 batteries and d2 cartomizers (and a PCP). Its a simple 2 part system, bit of a faff for refilling in public without looking like a drug dealer, but really handy for being out and about for the day. I bought this from jac vapour.
2- a Riva510 kit. 2 riva batteris, low resistance atomizers, and cartridges. I also have an ego xl battery which fits this kit too, and lasts longer for full days out. I love this kit, but need to sort out some larger volume cartridges soon. I bought this from liberty flights.
3 - liquid, I am using a variety of flavours (I started with tobacco flavours but cant stand them now), all at 24mg strength. My next orders will be 18mg as I am weaning myself onto a lower nicotine dose. At the moment my daily flavour is the vanilla from ecigwizard, but I have a variety of liquids from lots of vendors. I cant say yet what is a great liquid compared to what is a good liquid, they are all similar quality imo (but I know this is because I'm a newbie).
OK I'm off now after my mammoth waffling, I only meant to welcome you! DOH!

Hello & welcome Cameraman As you are a cigar smoker I think the Riva 510 from Liberty Flights would suit you fine as it's a similar size to a cigar. (Using the code ECR69 at checkout gives you a 15% discount) www.liberty-flights.co.uk/product.asp?id=78I'm not sure of what strength e-liquid to recommend to you though that would be more or less equivalent to your 2 cigars.

Bluecow1980 and Chrissie. Thanks a lot for all your help and the discount code too. After reading around it looks as if the Riva 510 or Riva 901 are the favourite for newbies like me. Could you tell me if it is a toss of the coin which one to choose or is there a definite difference between the two?

That is a slightly tricky one Camera. Basically the Riva 510 comes with 510 atomisers & the Riva 901 with 901 atomisers The main difference between the 2 atomisers is that the 510 tends to give more throat hit & the 901 more flavour from the juice. However, you can buy small adapters for either model at very little costs & they enable you to use different atomisers on your e-cig, so whichever model you go for you can always adapt it to a different atomiser. My favourite atomiser is the LR 901, this to me is the best of both worlds as it burns hotter to produce more throat hit & vapour but you still get a fair amount of flavour. Here is video review of the Riva 901 : - I should add though that there are far more products on the market that will screw directly onto the 510 version than the 901.

I meant to add that if you do go for the Riva, it comes with dry cartridges so you will have to buy some e-liquid straight away.

James @ Paradise Vapes does nice juices which many of our members re-order again and again. Normally he stocks Cigar but it's not there at the mo - a good substitute might be "LnB" - to start with I would order the High 20-26mg 50/50 (you'll see the drop-down boxes to choose): paradisevapeuk.vstore.ca/product_info.php/pName/l-n-b/cName/ejuice-tobaccoMaybe also choose some other flavours - RY4 is a perennial fave but whatever takes your fancy. No e-juices faithfully replicate tobacco, but it's amazing how quickly you get used to them and most of us can't stand real cigs after a short time of being clean and cough-free scylla

Thanks for that Scylla. I had just decided to go for the Riva 901 but LF are out of stock. I will have to wait a bit longer. Cheers

Welcome! IMHO, the best deal at the moment is the Riva 510 Limited Edition kit from Liberty flights. You'd be wise to buy a couple of spare LR (Low Resistance) 510 atomisers and maybe a 510 battery to 901 atomiser adapter for when you try a 901 (and you will!). If you're looking for a strong tobacco taste, the James at Paradise Vape has some good ones and his cigar flavours are back in stock. I'll get Geoff to post here as he has just had some tobacco flavours delivered. Sean

Camera, they have the 510 model in stock (22 units as we speak), and you can buy a 510>901 adapter if you want to use 901 atties with it. Scroll down on this page: libertyflights.co.uk/product.asp?id=78As Pinhead says, get a couple of LR510 atties, they'll give you an even stronger vape. There's no real need to go for either a 901 or 510 in preference because they are interchangeable with an adapter, and you won't know which you prefer until to try them Honestly, I would get going ASAP! scylla

Completely agrees with both Sean (Pinhead) & Scylla I shouldn't have confused you Camera by saying my favourite atomiser was the LR901. Go for the Riva 510. The Special Edition is worth the slight extra cost as it includes a wall charger.

Spoken to Geoff... today he has had Flue Cured, French Pipe and Old West from Paradise Vape. His opinions are: Flue Cured - big throat hit and lots of tobacco-ey flavour. Best for a cigar smoker. French Pipe - the middle juice of the three, a little less hit and tobacco taste. Old West - the mildest - still reasonable throat hit and taste but probably too mild for a cigar man. HTH... Sean

Looking forward to hearing how you get on Camera! Any questions just ask away . . . getting to grips with the jargon alone, I found could be quite confusing. So we've all been there!
