Something weird seems to happen when I vape... I have a basic ce4 650mah (blister pack) with non rebuildable clearo and I've noticed between vaping, after its been sat for a while, the first set of drags a seem to be a bit rough or harsh, like its very hot or something. It kind of feels a bit tingly in my mouth. After a little bit it mellows out and I get full flavour and a smooth vape. I've tried slow drags, fast/hard drags and different liquids but my result is the same. I can't figure it out... could it be something to do with the e liquid is soaking into the wick? It doesn't happen with my boge cartomisers. I can live with it...but seeing as I'm on the forum now I thought I'dask Thanks!

sounds like you may nead a higher percentage of vg, as i found that it was the pg that gave me that tingle in my mouth and also made my lips feal swollen and sore, try 50/50 pg/vg next time see how you get on , it worked for me.

After you've left your battery with clearo sitting about for a while, it's probably a good idea to sort of tilt it a bit and swirl/swoosh the liquid around the clearo making sure the wicks are wet! Or perhaps you should stick to cartos, or get a carto tank

I'll give the 'swish' technique a go thanks. In regards to VG..it also does it with a 100% VG mango I have from paradise vape. I wonder if 50/50 may balance it I do need to purchase a decent rebuildable clearo at some point though i guess though, eitherway

I get this too. I'm using a Riva 1100, both clearos and LR cartos. I put it down to my throat just getting used to the 'hit' and the prickly tingle, the nicotine in the mouth. I dunno? :-S

Glad I'm not the only one by the sounds of it then maybe it is just getting used to it then for the first drags. My cartos are SR btw... I imagine LR would blow me away haha. Have you tried SR cartos to see if that stops the tingling?

I have the same, coughing and spluttering for the first few vapes each evening (I'm an evening vaper only), put it down to initial irritating of fine hairs in the throat or something.

I get something similar, it's odd but I also notice not quite so much vapour so maybe something to do with wicking but also, and this is just my opinion, the coil needs a good few blasts to prime it ie it can heat up quick enough to vapourise more juice from the moment you start your drag, nicotine has the lower boiling point by a long way so the colder coill, less vapour may mean a more concentrated less diluted nic for the first couple of puffs? Anyone agree? Don't get it so much on my agaT+ coiled at 1.6 ohms so I imagine that heats up pretty quick. I find coming to a cold clearo/atty firing without taking a Draw for a second or two then taking a draw without firing to get the air pressure working on the wick virtually eliminates this. A fanny on I know but hey, I'm a div. Chris.

Could it be that after a few draws on it the coil has started to warm the wick up quite a bit. The liquid in the wick at that point gets warm and thins down a bit and wicks better?

These suggestions seem to make sense. My partner resorted to a pack of lnb this morning because the vapor kept grabbing her throat and making her cough To test the theories I'll get mine going till its smooth tonight, then let her have a try. If it makes her cough we know its the throat getting used to it....if it doesn't then we know its the wick/heat getting to a good yemperature.

If so, probably not able to wick as well as the ones that dont get bitter (could "bitter" be "burnt"?) I have a burnt CE5, and it tastes like death! The bitter taste is much lighter and I get it with different carto's and clearo's also with several different juices? Am thinking it's my tastebuds hitting the wall as it stops if I change flavour, then picks up again after a few more puffs. Doesn't happen as often with AC XXX Softmint or ever with any of my own mixes. I made a few batches of 100% PG, 100%VG and 70/30, 50/50 etc with no flavour just 20mg nic to test if it was the carto/clearo or flavour. Never get the bitter taste with any of those, am baffled.

I get flavour "loss" quite often, I think that is my tastebuds takin a break, but the only other thing I get is the burnt taste and can usually guarantee it is down to wicking performance and happens quicker on a VG based liquid. After a minute the wick recovers and it would be okay again...................for a while
