Deary me... earlier on tonight I thought i would go lie down for a nap as i had a busy morning. My support worker took me to the docs where i was laid down on the trolley thing, poked and prodded (getting me up off the damn thing was a sight to behold!!!) Then i had to go get measured up for a wheelchair. So by the time i got home i was in a fair bit of pain. Well, i have ended up sleeping for 6hrs! I am now going to be up all blinking night You know i posted earlier i was worried about getting a phone call from the dealers?? Well, i did! And i was right. Car is delayed but good news is only by 2 days. It will mean i cant go to The Shard building that day as Mr Dolly is working, but we can just wait till his next day off. I think i will just pick the grandkids up from school and go for a spin.

You know, i thought of that yesterday madcats. Can't remember the last time i sat in a new car,but like you say, it will never smell of smoke now. How wonderful. My support worker is a fantastic lady. She has singlehandedly sorted my whole life out pretty much.

I look in on the depression thread occasionally & it's absolutely shocking to see people struggling to get even basic care. It's so nice to read a story like yours where you didn't have to fight tooth & nail to get what you deserve.

Awww thank you. It was my support worker who has done most of the work for me. I wouldnt have a clue how to get anything to be honest. I had been struggling for a long time but it was only when i ended up back in hospital that a nurse suggested i be given one. She told me all i was entitled to and took it from there. Half the problem in this country is that people are not told what they are entitled to and unless you are an obvious case for it ie like me having to use a wheelchair they dont get the support they need.

I have been too scared to post anything about this before for fear of a backlash, but, I have been soooooo excited as a week today I am due to get my Motability car. I hd to cancel my first order due to strike action at the Ford plant in Belgium. I have been housebound since November. The only time i can go out of the house is if my daughter can take me somewhere, but she has 2 kids which means i am lucky if it is once a week. I cannot complain. Its good of her to help me. Anyway... I am now getting a Qashqai. The excitement is so bad, i am like a small child on the run up to christmas!! I even put the countdown on my phone crossing off each day like an advent calender I have never had a brand new car in my life. OK, i know i do not own it, I am paying a lease on it out of my disability allowance. Those who have never had mobility problems have no idea how much this means to me. The thought of being able to go out whenever i like will be a real treat. I hate relying on other people. I night have to take a double dose of morphine on Sunday night because i wont be able to sleep!! Roll on Monday The Nissan Qashqai is a loverly car. I can say that first hand as I was lucky enough to have one for 3 solid days for driving around to our work depots. My other half really wants to get one on finance which I am not so keen on, I dont do the whole buying into a new motor to loose 50% of its value within 10 yards of driving of the forcourt. But for a mobility motor you cant go wrong!! Hope you enjoy it

But for a mobility motor you cant go wrong!! Hope you enjoy it Thanks Jake. I am so looking forward to getting out of the house when the weather improves I do like the Qasgqai. I had to choose a 7 seater vehicle so when i get an electric wheelchair i can fit it in the back as they cannot be easily folded down like manual ones. So if i want to go out on my own i wont have to struggle getting a chair in and out. I am with you on the new car thing. I would never buy brand new even if i had the money. It is a complete rip off. How about you try for a secondhand one?

Darn, I can't believe that it's delayed, the ticker is wrong now.....grrrrr! lol Actually, I thought of you when I was out earlier, as I was behind a transporter with 6 Qashqai onboard. At least freedom is on the way, even if it's slightly delayed.

They are made in Sunderland. That is probably why it is much quicker to get delivery on them. Many other makes are made abroad and shipped in making the wait longer.
