My complaint Full Complaint: The fact that your article on e-cigarettes was totally one sided with nobody to discuss the benefits of using one I have been using a personal vaporizer for 3 years and it has toally changed my life I can run and play with my children again without getting out of breath and the fact that my vaperizer look more like a torch than a normal cigarette and another thing as for the reporter saying after one inhale from a e-cigarette he thought about should he have another one thats his personal weakness coming through nothing to do with the product thats like saying one puff on a normal cigarette and your addicted and thats total tosh I would suggest a on air apology or statement retraction or in the very least a person that could discuss the positive side to the discussion .

My two cents worth -
"The item on electronic cigarettes was biased, inaccurate and misleading. This was a great opportunity for the BBC to use National No Smoking Day to highlight a positive alternative to smoking tobacco. You chose instead to ridicule e-cigs and used shoddy journalism to do so. There are currently an estimated 700,000+ users of e-cigs in the UK and the numbers are rising daily. I have been using one for a year and have not touched tobacco since, despite having smoked for 35 years. I am healthier, happier and better off as a result. No previous attempts at quitting had worked, even with the NHS-recommended Nicotine Replacement Therapies. E-cigs may literally have saved my life. No mention was made of these benefits in your article, nor the fact that the 4,000 or so nasty chemicals produced by burning tobacco are avoided. No actual e-cig users were interviewed and the farcical 'experiment' in the food court used actors. No medical opinions were given. No Smoking Day could have given you the opportunity to raise all these positive points, yet you chose to present the item as a snigger at e-cigs and their users. A little bit of research could have made this an entertaining, informative and uplifting article. Once again the BBC has shot itself in the foot by dumbing-down it's output in the misplaced belief that this makes it more 'entertaining'. Can I suggest that you broadcast an apology and another item giving the positive side of this issue? I await your comments with interest."

First of all hi to all my old friends on here and pleased to meet you to the ones that have joined since I last popped in. I'm just wondering if anyone has a link for a video that was on ITV1 about a year ago with Dr Hilary Jones and Linda Robson were part of a much more unbiased discussion about e-cigs so when I write to BBC I can use this as an example of an unbiased discussion

Its a sad state of affairs to think we wont even get a reply to the complaint. It will just disappear into the void of the BBC's incompetent office staff =(

Mine's in:
"I have just watched the article on The One Show, regarding the use of E cigarettes. I found this article to be incredibly biased towards the negative aspects of using e-cigarettes, and containing little in the way of positive effects or attitudes towards them. The 'obsevation' of e cigarette users was conducted in a place (a food court) that many thought to be inappropriate for smokers long before the smoking ban was introduced, so in my opinion appeared deliberately chosen as somewhere where opinion would be negative. The choice of using 'cigalike' models (the ones that look like cigarettes) was another point, the article only briefly showing alternative models that would never be observed as cigarettes by the public. I myself use an e cigarette, and have had no negative feedback whatsoever when using it in public. The fact that there is a distinct lack of the toxic chemicals that are in cigarettes is completely ignored by your report, along with the potential health benefits an alternative to tobacco smoking can provide. I also found that the fact that your reporter who had stopped smoking many years ago had 'had a try' of one of the nicotine delivery devices particularly disgusting, as the thought of giving someone who had been an alcoholic an alcoholic drink would be unthinkable! Also particular focus was on selling them to non smokers. I have bought cigarettes most days during the last 14 years, and have never once been asked if I already smoke. "
