Any update on the 9am vet visit? Your timing is impecable! We are just back. Everything appears to be okay. Normal temperature and no pain when he is prodded (gently) in the area of the Bladder. His Wees this morning were clear and although he is still spending most of his time in his bed, he will not be seen by the Vet until Monday Evening or Tuesday Morning, unless we are concerned for any reason and then he will be seen at anytime. I am back with more pills & potions, but that is to be expected after such a big operation. He is now letting me rub his tummy gently which is a sign that he is returning to his old self. According to the Vet, he is making a remarkable recovery considering the complexity and length of the operation.

Just an update on the above, the vet thinks that the spots of blood from last nights urine were probably just some residue left over from the operation. Ofcourse we cannot be sure of this so I will still be monitoring his wee (what a way to spend a weekend ) but what the hell, it gets me out of mowing the lawn.

Only just caught up with this & OMG 45+ stones poor little guy, always amazes me how much pain & discomfort a furry will put up with before they finally let on something is wrong. At least his last checkup was positive that the rest of his recovery carries on along the same lines.

Fred, I have not yet had a chance to try the Vinegar thing. Thanks for reminding me. I will do that this afternoon.

Good news about the vet being pleased with how he is doing Dear old Merlin (cat) for the last 10 years of his life, suffered from Struvite stones. So I know how distressing it is to see a furry friend peeing blood However, the prescription diet he was on did keep them under control.

So I know how distressing it is to see a furry friend peeing blood However, the prescription diet he was on did keep them under control. Thanks Chrissie. Once we know what kind of stones Mull has, then hopefully we can get him on a diet that will stop any reoccurrence. Thanks Simate. He has just let me have a wee touch around the stitched area and there was no reaction from him. If he had been sore at all, he would have let out such a scream that it would have cracked the ceiling. I think it is just the stitches that are annoying him now. I have three of the stones sitting in vinegar now to see if they react. If they do, then they are Calcium Based and will be easy to treat in the future. If not, then it is a special diet from here on in. Time and the Lab Analysis will tell. Actually, at the moment, between his medicines and potions having to be hidden in tasty treats, the wee bugger is getting better fed than I am. ???

Okay, latest update. Although still on medicines, our boy is doing great. His stitches will stay in until next Monday, but the wound is healing well although every so often when we are out for a walk, his back legs go into "one pedal bicycle" mode as the other paw tries to scratch at the stitches. He is still being fussy with his food because his medicines are in there, but he is consuming enough of these that I am not too worried about that. The main thing is that the vet is pleased with his progress. Neither he nor I can figure out why Bladder Stones should show up as lameness in 3 out of 4 legs, but now that the stones are out, the lameness has disappeared. I have since found out that his operation was carried out by two vets and a vet nurse and lasted two and a half hours. I have also found out roughly what it will cost, but I don't want you all crying on my behalf!!! The stones are still away for analysis and it could be that they may have to go to America if the team in Derby cannot find what caused them. Anyways, everything is going well and we are over the moon to see the wee man begining toget back to his old self.

Thanks Chrissie.
Ofcourse the hard work will really start after next Monday when the retraining begins.
Like that the large cage that Mull has had to himself since this began, really is big enough to accommodate two little Bichons and that his mate will be back in the cage with him at night instead of bouncing around on my bed like a demented Zebedee.
That if he wants up on the chair or up on mammies lap, he will need to get up there himself instead of sitting at the chair looking all mournfull, waiting for someone to lift him up.
That just because he has a few stitches, that that is an excuse for pushing the "selective hearing" to the N'th degree.
Sometimes I don't know whether to laugh or scream at his antics.
