Nasty metallic taste usually means a hot spot somewhere Check your coil.

Thanks robby, Roger, Not used one before so i may have to tweak the coil a bit, does anyone no how long the taste last as it awfull, it seems to be glowing all the way down with no noticeable hotspots roger. Comes out at 1.4ohms but you have to tilt it to get a good vaper evan at 8.0w, it seems to dry out quite quickly. I am using the mesh that came with it length 45mm width 30mm rolled it up quite tight so it slid nicely into the wick hole it looks like a thin straw, the wire is 0.2mm which also came with it, oxidised both before & after rolling the wick.

Would the width of the wick be an issue or is the sizes mention be acceptable, maybe i should get some more stainless wick & some flat cantha wire?

The width of the wick could be an issue if it is being strangled where it comes into the upper chamber, can you do pics of the wick and coil in it denis9t9?

Okay Denis, I never really got on with SS wicks, when I got one going well, I didnt see much of an advantage over the other options. Ref the flat kanthal, when I used it I was impressed with, it makes for a tidier coil with loads of contact on the SS wick and vaped great, but like I said it didn`t lead me to SS wick everything. For all the attys I have tried and messed about with, I always end up coming back to my double coiled Phoenix sitting on top of my Vamo, even over the Dream Atty (quite a cool vape). I love the warm vape and the flavour is always great. For me it is the best flavour production of them all, but it`s a personal preference/judgement thing

could also be the ss wick to tight try pushing a pin down the center,do also remember that its best to tilt the atty, but saying all this if you manualy wet wick then try it it works ,but then it goes hot burns a bit and tastes like uggghh, its boiling, take wick out give it a good heat up[have a safety pin pushed down center of it saves burning fingers] and then re wick,it sounds more like when you start vaping the ohms have dropped and its heating the wick faster than it can wet it,also give wire quick heat before using to

It could be as you say andy01424 be the wick is a bit tight, I will check it tonight as i rolled it without any pin in it & you cannot see any daylight through it. I may have to re-roll it around a paper clip.

When you say your coils glows all the way, that is how it should be when dry. To properly check for hot spots, you need the coil wet, you should not see any glow at all. Any glowing parts are where there is a hot spot. Also don't worry about wick being tight, some people swear by solid wicks, some prefer straw type. Don't over oxidize the wick, it's unnecessary.
