Has anyone had problems with their teeth and vaping? I've been looking around trying to find some information and there seems to be some worrying things out there. I'm sure it is probably no worse on the teeth than smoking, but I would prefer no damage to my teeth. I've just spent a lot of money on my teeth and anything I can do to avoid any further problems would be good. I have noticed some changes in my mouth in the week that I have been vaping; an odd metallic taste, more of a furry tongue etc...
Are some liquids better than others? Anything that should be avoided?
Do the sweeter flavours actually damage teeth, gums? I don't know if there is actual sugar in them or not, or if some of the ingredients convert to sugar. If my mouth is full of a sweet tasting substance it would seem odd that there is nothing in there that is damaging.
I would love to know what exactly is in the liquids I am buying, there seems to be no regulation, which is a worry for me. I would love to see a list of ingredients on the bottles, like with food products. Does anyone know if any liquid makers do this already?

Any links to your original research please?
Interesting question.

I can only tell you my personal experience. I used to see the Hygeinist X2 a year for a thorough scale and polish which always took over 30 mins. I had my teeth proffessionally cleaned after Vaping for 2 months. I was at the Dentist last month and he scaled and polished my teeth while I was there as they didn't really need much, took less than 10 mins! I'll never repair the damage that Gum diseased caused but it is now in remission! IMO the biggest risk to our teeth and gums from Vaping is that it can cause a dry mouth. Remember to drink plenty of water and don't skimp on your oral hygeine and all should be fine

I went to the dentist a couple of weeks ago and he said my teeth and gums were in much better nick since I quit smoking... And I see that the thread you linked to includes some posts from a dentist, who says not to worry. Big toothy smile >>>

I had a few issues in the beginning with dry mouth and the roof of my mouth being a little tender. I just drank more water and it has settled down. The main thing I have noticed is my teeth are a lot whiter than they were.

In the Alchemist Cupboards ingredients it just says 'flavourings' which is a bit too much of a mystery for me. Is the only way to know what is in your liquid to mix it yourself?

Mixing your own doesn't help - you are using the same flavourings that are in the pre-mixed liquids.

I don't know of a dentist that would actually recommend it. I'm not trying to scaremonger, I think it is a legitimate concern. Dentistry is expensive, and as a phobic it is bloody traumatic experience for me. I would like to know if I am filling my mouth with sugar or not. Could this be worse than having a can of Coke multiple times a day? Vaping would get into every crevice in your mouth even more so that drinking it?

As far as I'm concerned, if 100 people are worried about it but none of them are dentists, and the one dentist in the room isn't worried about it, I'm going to go with the opinion of the dentist But you're right, the various health implications of vaping are a legitimate concern. My own view, from what I have read, is that I don't know whether vaping is bad for my health, but I do know that smoking was very bad for my health, so, on balance, I'm probably better off now than I was before...

My dentist was really chuffed when I stopped smoking and started vaping. I believe that juices have very little sugar in them, as it mucks up the coil very quickly. They mostly use sweeteners. And it's definitely not worse than having multiple cans of coke a day. Of course we all have to make our own decisions based on our own research. It seems to me you have 3 choices, either start smoking again, which we know is much worse for our teeth, or carry on vaping and try to pick a juice which won't worry you. Or stop vaping.

The way I see it, the possibility of potential, possible problems with teeth (I doubt it has any adverse effect on teeth.) Or lung cancer.
Not a hard choice for me.

For me either, I would prefer to have all of my teeth pulled than get cancer obviously, but I don't really want to make any problems in my mouth (gum deterioration worries me more than actual teeth) and anything I can do to prevent this happening, like liquid mixes that are less likely to do damage etc, I would gladly appreciate some advice on.
