Morning guys
Will be a week today since I spent my hard earned cash on a packet of stinkies.
Have already noticed my sense of smell has improved and my sense of taste has improved. Today I started coughing, not while vaping, but before and afterwards. I assume it is just the gunk and crap from 30 years of stinkies. I actually quite likevthat this is happening as it makes me feel like my body is getting rid of the traces of stinkies.
Did this happen to most of you too?

Hi siffy and a belated welcome to the forum from me .. sorry I've been a bit busy this past while and have missed a lot of newbies joining up. I had a rotten cough before I quit the stinkies.. it got worse for a while when I first started vaping and now I hardly cough at all. Probably just your lungs cleaning themselves out

Happened to me siffy, takes a while for your body to expel the gunk! My breathing has improved immensely (like someone has opened a window in a stuffy room!!)

I used to have a cough every morning to expel a blob of indescribable material when I smoked since I stopped smoking I haven't coughed once but I've heard a smoker cough is very common for a while after stopping smoking and is healthy.

It's a very common effect after giving up smoking. Yes your lungs are trying to gt rid of all the gunk - its why smokers have a cough after all. It will reduce with time till you hardly cough at all - I'm over two years off the stinkies and second hand smoke sometimes makes me cough now (didn't when I was producing smoke).
Even when smoking my smell and taste was very good and now it has got better, can't get too close to Lush outlets now or I really get overloaded.

Don't worry, perfectly normal. It's the way the body expels toxins from the lungs and removes my as produced by sillia in your wind pipe and food pipes. Mucas is used as a lubrication to get food down and to get dust and crap back up.
Your body is awesome!!!!
Regards Jez

Autocorrect is a bloody nuisance at times, every time I type 'vaping' it changes it to 'gaping'.

see my post about hayfever... might not be helping but personally think it's your lungs clearing out. However if it continues get some hayfever spray (most supermarkets have it quite reasonable)

I had a cough about 2 weeks after giving up smoking but it only lasted a couple of days and hasn't returned 13 months on. No more colds either anymore. I like this vaping lark.

Should I be worried it never happened to me after 11 years of smoking? Everyone is different matey. SWMO tells me she never coughed after quitting ciggies (she dont vape) but I remember her coughing a little more but only for a few days and not much. I find that exersize makes it shift hell of a lot quicker too. When I started running when still smoking my first run consisted of a few hundred yards followed by choking and vomiting large quantities of black goop that I had been swallowing for the past 10 mins. Thats when I knew what those horrid feckers were doing to my lungs and throat. Regards Jez

Should I be worried it never happened to me after 11 years of smoking? I never really had a hacking cough after stopping the fags,i did stop having the "morning hack" after about 5 days of vaping, aand generally my chest is about 100% better now than when i was smoking.

Mucas is used as a lubrication to get food down and to get dust and crap back up. Your body is awesome!!!!................... Do you know siffy Jezarel ? Regards Jez I have had three years of virtually no physical exercise since a heart attack. It was Father`s Day on Sunday and my son (God bless him) turned up on my doorstep with a new mountain bike. Yesterday I decided it was time to try it out so went for a ride only expecting to do a mile circuit. I felt fine, so kept on going. It ended up a 5 mile round trip to a friends house. It wasn`t flat by any means lol, but I got there without stopping or getting totally out of breath. The bugger wasn`t in!!! so I didn`t get my expected cuppa and a bit of a rest lol. I just turned right around and turned back. I didnt make it all the way back without a bit of walking on a couple of the steeper hills, had one vape-stop chillin by a river on the way back as well. Recovery was surprisingly good after three years of inactivity, certainly better than any time I have done that run before when smoking. I expected today to be all aches and pains, but I am fine, doesnt feel any different to normal. I am a fairly heavy vaper. It does collect in my wind pipe and I have to clear my throat every now and again, but it isnt irritation, it`s simply clearing my throat. We have to remember it is a vaporised liquid that we are taking into our chest, it`s bound to settle a bit, otherwise we not would get the nicotine out of it. I`m 62 now, so was chuffed to bits with the results of my bike ride.
