Not where to put this question, hope it's ok here.
When I smoked I would average 40 mins, in between. Today I noticed two hours had passed, very happily, and I then fancied a vape. Am on 70/30 18mg juice.
So, it made me wonder, I understand about the nicotine addiction in a stinkie, but is it the addiction to the other chemicals too?, in otherwords are the chemicals just as addictive as the nicotine?

Although I can't give you a solid answer, I would have to say that out of the 4000+ chemicals in a cigarette, nicotine can not be the only one.
I can go 5 hours without a vape without feeling stressed. I couldn't go an hour without a cig without getting snappy or irritated.
Also, have you noticed that with ecigs, you don't get that 'niccy rush' from your 1st vape like you would with your 1st cig of the day... (kind of shakey feeling and coloured dots in your eyes for about 5min after)?

The best explanation I have is that we’re now using a considerably more efficient delivery system.

Some of the other substances in normal cigs are also addictive, some more than nicotine (but present in smaller amounts). When you read through the list, you wonder what on earth you were ever thinking!

Am in two minds to just leave well alone on that score. It has only been a week vaping for me so I am sure I'll soon forget about the morning rush. Like I say, went two hours and only noticed two hours had actually passed when I got the feeling I needed to vape. Another thing I have noticed is I am less nowty. It really did make me wonder if there must have been chemicals in ciggys, just as addictive as nicotine. Mind I could be wrong, I normally am

I'd been smoking 'Additive Free' tobacco for a couple of years before making the switch - but even my body was craving the chemical cocktail that it was habituated to - which might not be actual addiction but equates to the same thing

I'm not a scientist but I know that "Big Tobacco" want their products to be addictive as possible and have had a long time to work on it.
There's a huge number of additives & chemicals in cigarette smoke, here's just a handful;
Ammonia: Household cleaner. Arsenic: Used in rat poisons. Benzene: Used in making dyes, synthetic rubber. Butane: Gas; used in lighter fluid. Carbon monoxide: Poisonous gas. Cadmium: Used in batteries. Cyanide: Lethal poison. DDT: A banned insecticide. Ethyl Furoate: Causes liver damage in animals. Lead: Poisonous in high doses. Formaldehyde: Used to preserve dead specimens. Methoprene: Insecticide. Maltitol: Sweetener for diabetics. Napthalene: Ingredient in mothballs. Methyl isocyanate: Its accidental release killed 2000 people in Bhopal, India, in 1984. Polonium: Cancer-causing radioactive element.
some of which are simply a by-product of the combustion of tobacco but I'm pretty sure others are in there for the sole purpose of enhancing the addictiveness of nicotine.

When you think about what we used to take in apart from the tobacco smoke, it really makes you wonder, doesn't it? At least mixing my own juice now, I have the best possible way of controlling what goes into my juice. OK, I can't vouch for the purity of the nicotine, PG or VG, but we are assured by the UK vendors that they are produced to pharmaceutical standards. I suppose the flavourings are the weak link on the chain, but again I trust the suppliers to tell me if there is anything dodgy in them. Andy

Another couple to add to that list is Chocolate and Liquorice.
Both of these, when burnt, relax the muscles in the throat and allow the tobacco smoke to penetrate deeper into you lungs. Hence the feeling of a deeper satisfaction from Smoking than you get from Vaping.
As to "cravings". Well recently I have been getting up through the night furra widdle and occasionally I have fancied a quick couple of vapes before going back to bed. Now whether this is a sign of addiction or it is just because it is there in the study, I'm passing the door and why not, well I don't know, but it is certainly not something I am concerned about.
I have another, proper, addiction than I have been recovering from for over 25 years and so a few night time tokes is nothing for me to worry about.

Ahhh, I was passing on info from here to my dad yesterday, was telling him about black cat e juice. I noticed that contained liquorice, which I just assumed was for flavour? Maybe it is, or maybe it might be because of what you mentioned above. Might get me some black cat;) It might be as you say, you pass it and know it's there, so have a vape? I have vaped as much as I would smoke since I got in from work. I imagine it is just due to the fact it is my routine? You know, like I'll pop the kettle on so have a puff, make a phonecall, have a puff. I am not worried too, am not looking to reduce my nicotine intake at the moment, if at all. Just glad it's not being done through using a ciggy. If my nicotine intake does reduce, then it will be a bonus. Am going to google my question about the chemicals later, has interested me.

The Chocolate/Liquorice thing I got from my Diabetic Clinic during a discussion we had about e-cigs.
Whether these chemicals would have the same effect when vaped, I do not know. However, the fact that Nicotine has the same effect when vaped or smoked, would suggest that other chemicals may also have the same effects.

That's the Bit I miss Me too, if I'm honest, then after my morning routine, after my third vape I feel like I would feel after my third ciggy. I imagine when I get the spinner I will pump up the volume for my first vape of the day.
