I'm currently using a couple of vv batteries with evods, mini pro and a vivi nova. Vaping away happily. What additional benefit would a mod give me?

Depends which type of mod. With Vamo's and Provari's and the like you can check the resistance of your heads, and the volts can go lower and higher than on a Spinner or a Twist. Other than that they'll perform the same. Oh, on the Vamo you can set it to watts instead of volts too, but I find I still crank it up/down anyway so seems pretty useless.
Obviously they use independant batteries so if a battery dies you can replace only the battery, not the complete device.
I'm not uber clued up on mechanical mods but they're maybe more reliable due to not having any circuitry or moving parts etc. You can use them with lower resistance heads cos they don't have the safety cut out. Wait for more info on them tho, I'm no expert.

I have three Vamos , they're variable voltage and wattage and two lava tubes which are VV only, the advantage of variable wattage is that you can set the watts to your liking and every device you put on top will vape the same regardless of resistance allowing for performance of different types of devices, the other main advantage of a mod is battery life as you will be using higher mah batteries particularly in 18650 mode. What additional benefit would a mod give me? A shopping opportunity? Can never have too many of them Lal. The serious answer is what Tall and Dave have said . . . I do find the ohms check facility on these devices extremely useful.

I would say there's not much difference between my Spinner and my eVic. The only real advantage is I do have a lot of unusual resistance/ohm clearomisers and just to leave it on a set "watts" does help. There is no performance difference between a Spinner and my Lavatube for example, except for the size/type of atomiser I put on the top.

Your atomiser of choice needs to be set up correctly to be able to perform well on a mechanical mod, but they're just such very tactile lovely shiny little buggers especially with a nice looking genny, and (for me) especially in 350 mode; that many people find it worth the hassle of figuring it all out. Plus as Perps rightly points out, and when you've already bought all of the multiple variations of the similar inventions already out there; they're such a great shopping opportunity icon_shoppingm
the more little shiney lovelies I buy, the more I start to convince myself that the limited editions are actually worth the ridiculous prices they seem to command. Doh!

If you have set the watts (I normally stick around 7 and a half-ish) and the eVic does the rest. For example, I have a 1.5ohm clearo and if I put it on, the volts go straight down to 3 or something.... I love it.

Yup, the device checks the resistance of the atomiser and calculates the voltage using ohm's law with it's own internal ohm checker.

Ah right. I buy lr boges to use with my LT. However, if I use sr boges, I have to drop the volts from 4.7 to around 3.7. So, this kind of mod would probably suit me better.
Which ones are worth buying then?
