Hi all This evening went for a stroll to our local with friends, vaping on the way, and when I sat down in the beer garden with my first pint went to fire up my Vamo and - oh no! the fire button had stuck in!! After various cautious pushes of the button - stuck fast - threw caution to the wind and gave it a hard knock against the picnic table we were sitting on. Lo and behold, the button popped out and away I went. However, it is happening on a regular basis, despite me being very careful about how I push the button and even how I put the Vamo down between toots. Your advice then - is there anything I can do to rectify this problem, and if not, what can I buy as a replacement for about £25 upper limit, even if it has to come from China, to make me less reliant on my first Vamo which is suffering from a distinct lack of threads at the business end. I have been looking at the FastTech Smoktech SID, and a couple of other mods on Health Cabin too. I need something which is VV/VW, takes an 18650, and has ohm checker as I use my mod for recoiling. Your help and guidance would be most appreciated! Andy

Hi chykensa, no advice on what replacement to get I'm afraid but I can offer to have a look at repairing your vamo for you. No promises but it will only cost you postage

I love my SVD from fasttech chykensa, and you can try before you buy when we meet up next week or you can pop around anytime to try it before then. I do have 2 small problems with it however. 1 it gets a warm spot when I vape too much or when the battery starts to run low. And it seems to be stuck in lock, probably me, but I did manage to up the wattage once.

Personally, I don't get the SVD love Andy . . . apologies to those that do, whilst it vapes very well I find it big and clunky even in 18350 mode. The telescopic section I still find quite sharp and I'm not that keen on it's appearance either. I prefer the SID, though it isn't SS or Telescopic . . . so it's more limited battery size wise. If the appearance and size doesn't bother you, then on balance the SVD would probably be the more practical option. Here it is in comparison to a couple of other 18350 mods.

Well, that gives me something to think about, thank you all. raid2506 - thanks for your kind offer, I may well take you up on that. I now feel scared to use the beast in case it happens again, and I'm sure a sharp weighty tap on the nearest piece of furniture doesn't do it much good. zeldamum - from an aesthetic point of view I have to agree with Perpetua here, I'm not a fan of the SVD's looks either. However, I may pop in sometime this week to have a quick heft and see what I think before writing it off altogether. That leaves me with limited room to manoeuvre I know, but I have been looking at the SID HERE or a Lavatube HERE, although I would if possible like to buy it without batteries and charger. Ho-hum, I'll have to see what the family budget is like and take it from there! Andy

Just a heads up. I have the HC SID, and I am not convinced it is genuine. The battery tube wont come off, so no chance of buying and running a 18350 tube, and my Panasonic 3400 18350 wont fit in the tube as it is (the battery) too fat. Having said that, for the price, there is little point in returning it as it'll probably cost as much to send back as it would just to get another, so as disappointed as I am about not being able to run 18350, I'm gonna have to keep it anyway. Another thing worth considering. When comparing with my Vamo, I do prefer the Vamo. Now it could, in part, be because the Vamo was my first mod, and so it has that psychological edge in my head, but the way you navigate the Vamo, to me, is better. While it is not difficult to do everything you want with the SID, the one button menu does take a bit more time. Unlike the Vamo where you don't even need to look at it, just hit the little buttons if you want to increase or decrease the power, and away you go. A simple push and hold to check battery level or resistance level etc... The Vamo, to me, is just a better laid out machine. That said, the SID is a nice enough bit of kit. I'm already looking at my next mods though, so I am looking at the evic and the MVP. While the MVP isn't VW, it still looks like a great all-rounder, and is meant to have excellent battery life. However, I believe they are soon to be bringing out a VW device soon, so I might try to wait on that. In the meantime, I did get 3 of these : www.fasttech.com/products/1403315A nice little slim VV that works great and has a battery indicator. If your Vamo still works for the most part, you can still do your resistance checking on it, and have some slight voltage control with the little un. Great for out and about anyway. And cheap enough at only £8.50 or there abouts. Certainly a fine little tool for when your out and about and don't trust your Vamo. And cheap enough as a stop gap until you decide on what you really want next. EDIT: Another thing about my SID from Healthcabin. It doesn't fire my EVODS I got with my Vamo from Charlies Vape Shop. It does, however fire the ones I got from Healthcabin, and the obviously not genuine ones I got from Fattech with the little VV device I linked earlier. Weird one that as I assumed that the CVS ones were going to be genuine. But compared to the HC ones which are generally considered to be genuine, they are different, and more like the Fasttech ones.

Thanks for that xs2man - all useful information. I too like the easy Vamo operation, I'm just a little discouraged as this Vamo which has gone ladyparts upward is only 6 weeks old I'm still considering my options - the first might be to take Raid up on his kind offer of taking a look first before I spend any more money! As a put me on until you can fork out for something bigger and better, Get a 1300mah spinner Bloody lovely little beast. Doesn't look too silly with a 3.5ml tank on top either since its a touch wider than a standard ego. The battery is fantastic for only 1300mah and to be able to dial in exactly your voltage is great.

Andy I would go down this route first, if it can be fixed than all good, not worth giving up on it as it might be something very easy to fix and when fixed could last for many years to come

See, I'm confused.com at the moment - just got the new Vamo out of the cupboard, and it's working again!!! I think I'll give Raid a PM and send it off to him if he thinks he might be able to fix it - I'm hopefully going abroad for a week in about 10 days time, and want to know that I have something reliable with me then. In fact, I'm having a day trip to Newport, Gwent on Thursday for an appointment with the Passport Office to get my current lapsed passport renewed. Decisions, decisions!!

I am convinced it's genuine I've to say Xs2 . . . although I think they could be ' seconds ' as my battery tubes won't come apart either. Would I pay full price for it, probably not. But for the current sale price it's a great back up device. The 3400mAH Panny's won't fit into some Vamo's, so that's not exclusive to the SID. CVS Evods will be genuine, they do however suffer from short Ego threads which is why they won't work on your SID . . . I've exactly the same thing with an Evod I have from him, it doesn't work on any of my Ego threaded devices, but is fine with an adapter.
