Hi Ben & welcome to AAEC,
My own experiences are pretty much identical to many other vapers. I smoked for 30 years and had wanted to quit for at least 10 of those. I had tried patches, gum, mints & inhalators but failed miserably every time.
I tried vaping and have never touched a ciggie since, giving-up really was very easy for me.
The only difficulty I faced was at the 2 month period when I found myself craving tobacco flavoured juice instead of my usual fruity ones. Thankfully this difficult stage only lasted a week and soon passed after realising those tobacco juices tasted like sh*t in comparison.
After 5 months I still enjoy the act of vaping but I'm finding that the nicotine is no longer that important to me. I'm currently vaping my first freebie bottle, namely some "Chocolate" flavoured juice from Health-E-Vape, it's only 4mg but its doing the job very nicely. In terms of health, I really do feel fantastic for giving-up the stinkies, and my wife is certainly appreciating the better smelling version of me. Finally for the cherry on top, I've saved over £1000 in 5 months!!
Unfortunately big business, the EU, Governments and the world & his wife seem to have it in for vapers, so I now feel I have a duty to spread the word to other smokers before its too late.

Hi Ben welcome to the forum! My experience is very much like AndyB's - embarrassingly easy... I think after the first few days my head was saying well you should be having a fag, but the body was saying well you dont actually need one cos you got all this nicotine available in your ecig, once I'd got the idea that I wasn't going to have withdrawal symptoms it really was a piece of piss. Plus i got all those great flavours to enjoy, and all those gadgets to buy and try! There's no chance of me going back now I'm pleased to say

Hi VaperBenUK I'm new to the forum too, I stopped the stinkies in January this year and am rarely even tempted these days. Just occasionally I'll smell fresh cigarette smoke and think it smells nice but actually smoking it doesn't appeal at all. I'm down to low nicotine or nicotine free too now which has been incredibly easy Keep at it, you are doing great

Hello there Ben and congratulations on giving up the bad stuff so early in your life!
I've been smoking two packs of Gitanes (really bad, black French coffin nails) or Reval w/o filtre (really bad German stuff) a day for more than 30 years. I never tried to give up, because I liked to smoke and I was sure my last day on this earth would start with a cigarette in the morning.
We own our home, my wife smoked just as much as I did, and I could even smoke at my workplace - but I am a geek, and I found mention of "e-cigs" in an unrelated forum post. I was curious and searched for information and, after a day, I ordered two ego starter sets for an embarrassing amount of money from today's perspective.
The day those arrived was the day my girl and I had our last cigarettes. It was almost too easy, and we did not intend to stop smoking in the first place.
That was on the 4th of november, 2011.
We still have 30 or 40 packs of cigarettes here and we find lighters in the odd trouser pocket, but smoking is past us. We worked the whole way of shinyitis from the earliest egos to the simple ingenuity of bottom feeding mods, rebuildable atomizers and DIY liquid - and we feel heaps better than when we smoked.
There's my story and I am glad you won't have to tell a similar one later.

Welcome Newbie! Good luck with quitting. Well ...... I used to enjoy smoking, but then I got a really bad lung infection. I didn't tend to it straight away, and to cut a long story short it almost killed me. Okay, I got over it, but it seemed to me that although smoking wasn't the cause it certainly made matters worse. So, I got the inhaler and the patches, which were rubbish, so basically went cold turkey for six months. That was enough to beat it, but I tried a Nicolites starter pack and ...... sheer bliss. No cravings, complete satisfaction. I could have easily lived with the Nicolites but the short battery life was a pain in the neck. I fooled around with some mods I had on loan, but finally settled for an Ego/Clearomizer setup. I now really don't need the nicotine so I cut that down each month. Currently on 11mg but going to 6mg next month. I have also migrated away from Tobacco flavours as again I don't really have a need for them. Whatever you choose to do, I hope it works out for you. My health is now 100% and I couldn't be more happy. Jag. (Vaping Apple)
