After 7 months I still do not find e cig's any cheaper than analogs, only thing that keeps me going is it saves my health which is most important. Fascinating. I smoked the cheapest way possible (roll ups, sometimes "imported" tobacco) and have worked out my entire spend for the first year. Smoking = £1,264 (2011-2012) Vaping = £1,108 with lots of eliquid spare and £300's of hardware still in use or as backups. This year will be less, unless I break all my stuff.

Received my mixing kit today Now to get down to business......I am using the todmuller.com ejuice calculator, nicotine base I presume is 72mg as it says on the bottle. I know the water added is optional but why would you add water in the first place? The flavor % is on 20, is this the standard percentage? Do I need to up it or is it the best amount to start with and add more if needed after steep? Thanks

Also it does not say how to do the vg/pg ratio like 80/30 or am I missing something?

Thanks VG is more viscous than PG, so if you're mixing to a higher proportion of VG in your juice, you may want to add the water to thin it a bit. This allows the juice to wick more easily. I dilute my VG with 10 percent de-ionised water as a rule, and forget about adding water to the mix. 20 percent is towards the higher end of the scale for flavour. I suggest you make a small quantity at, say, 10 percent, since obviously you don't know at this point how strong the flavouring is. You can add a bit more later if it isn't doing the business, but reducing the flavour concentration afterwards is more complicated and uses more ingredients.

Also it does not say how to do the vg/pg ratio like 80/30 or am I missing something? Basically, you're just mixing two liquids, PG and VG. Your nic base is going to be one or other of those (rarely a mixture of the two), and that would count on one side or other of the equation. Flavours are nearly always in PG. The numbers in the PG/VG ratio always add to 100, so 80/30 isn't actually possible. If you're making 10ml, Taking a 70/30 PG/VG ratio as an example, and assuming your nic base and flavourings are PG: The nic base quantity determines the nic strength, obviously - if you're using 54mg base and you want a 16mg result, then your base should be 29-point-something percent of the total (call it thirty, I wouldn't worry about tenths of percentage points, we don't use equipment that measures that accurately, when we're only making 10ml at a time.) If another ten percent is flavouring (also PG), that gives you 4ml, which you top up to 7ml with plain PG, and add 3ml of VG and there you are.

Thanks a lot, that cleared it up!
Time to get mixing.

Can you tweak a mix after you have let it steep? It could do with some more VG and flavour, can I just chuck it into the pot? Bit like cooking in the kitchen testing to see if there is enough garlic, if not you add more Not to much though, may be a bit wiffy on the breath the next day

I am really struggling getting much flavour, out of a scale of ten I would honestly say 1. This is in a Protank 2 mini and Protank 2 and Evod. Dripping is not much of an improvement, also not much fun having to keep topping up so much. E liquid I am using is from JooseJuice, I have let them steep for a month, I have also mixed my own juice, still having the same problem. I even added extra flavour to my mixed bubblegum, still no difference. Ratio I am using is 70/30 pg/vg. This also happens with stock wicks and re wicks using 2mm silica wick/ .20 mm kanthal wire. It is getting me really frustrated It really is just a hint of flavour not a full on 'wow' that was a lovely tastefull vape right there. Someone please help me with this and my above question. I should really start a new thread but I felt it still went under the title of this one I started. I did not want to just start a load of other threads asking all of this. Thank you for your time.

If you're having trouble tasting both pre-made and homemade juice, I'd say the issue is likely to be your taste buds, bud What % flavouring did you use and of what? And yes you can tweak recipes after they're made, but you will be messing with the ratios and will likely create something unrepeatable unless you can do the maths (I can't) and record it faithfully. It's OK if you want to rescue something, but perhaps less so if you want to make a decent stock recipe.

I want to help! Tastebuds are funny things, and everyone seems to be different. Personally I always get significantly less flavour in a BCC. Never heard anyone else say that though ???
I find the iClears give me the most flavour, but again I have read time and again that they give less flavour than most BCCs
iClear16s are really cheap at myepack atm. might be worth trying one, if you like it then you could consider the iClear30 which has a bigger tank.
What kind of volts are you throwing at this stuff? Different flavours taste more at different power levels, playing with Volts can help you find the sweet spot.

I put in 10% bubblegum flavour from the alchemist cupboard. I then added another 10% after steep and still no different. Am I the only one who feels this way?

I can't taste Capella bubble gum flavour. It's weird. I can taste most other stuff though, often at lower than normal %. I gave up on the Capella bubble gum at 20%, all it did was dry my mouth out.
