Stay that way as long as you can, if you're happy with the kit you've got, and it's performing to a satisfactory standard that YOU like then don't change. You'll save yourself loads of money Of course, if you have the oppertunity, try other stuff, if you think it'd be beneficial to you get it, if not, you can think to yourself that you've saved some more money It's not about saving money really I'm trying to understand the fascination of upgrading all the time but the word 'mod' does not fit at all with the process lol. I might change at some point but see no need to at all right now. The amazing people on here recommended the perfect kit for me (Perpetua actually pointed it out first) and I haven't looked back since. Regardless, if I change kit completely it is not a modification. I am an anally retentive English major for that I apologise I think perhaps the need for an instant understanding in the vaping community overtook the literal meaning quite a while ago. Big battery e-cig doesn't quite have the same ring to it As yet I've not seen a more appropriate term in common use.

A lot of us here are hobbyists. We like trying out new gear or inventing new juices or both. Doesn't mean you have to.
Some people like to talk about wine, know what they like best to go with what food, find the best deals. I suspect these guys enjoy their wine more than I do (mostly, I just drink it), but I'm not interested enough in it to do what they do.
When I grew up, a Mod was something that fought Rockers on a beach. Language is a live thing, changes all the time. If you expect people to follow rules about it, then you are going to get irritated.

I understand that back in the early dawn of vaping, devices like electric screwdrivers and toothbrushes were modified into electronic cigarettes. These were called mods. The name stuck. As for not wanting one, I know I didn't either when I started. Evods were more than enough for me , until they weren't!

Early days yet silentscream . . . but it took my vaping friend 2 years to get round to using a Mod, despite my best endeavours. Now they wouldn't go back. Everyone's different and if what you have, suits your current needs then stay as you are. Until it doesn't.

If what you have does what you want then consider yourself lucky, you are only missing out if you are unsatisfied. Profound. Ballsy, that bloke out of Star Wars who said wise stuff... related? I think so! Balllsy henceforth to be known as Master Yoda

silentscreamif it will placate you, you can always consider that any alteration to your existing equipment is indeed a Modification to your vaping style.

I think there are two basic types of humans. "upgraders" and "stickers". I'm an upgrader, whether it be my phone, my headphones, my e-cigs. Mrs OneDay is a sticker and can't understand why I'd want to change something that already works. Horses. Courses.

I'm half and half really, I'm happy with my twist but do want to try some mods, but not the expensive ones Something along the lines of a Vamo or that sort of price range will probably be my max

As giles said I find vaping to be more of a hobby now, recoiling looking for the utopia that is the perfect vape for you. If you have found it good luck, but I do like receiving vape mail! This is my only "vice" so I don't see it as too bad :-)

When I started, I wanted the smallest - most inconspicuous device possible. Ended up with a pair of riva 650's and a ce4. I still have the 650's but now use a mini nova and mini protank ii.
Somehow overnight im not getting enough... something? And the size issue has vanished. I guess I was worried about what people would think but I actually like the attention you get when vaping, especially from smokers. Many of whom have now taken up vaping aswell.
Not entirely sure what it is im looking for but I've ordered a vamo kit to find out. For £36 it's worth it just to find out.

No you are not strange silentscream it is still very early days for you. Carry on with what you are using until you find you are not getting what you want from it. The time to upgrade is when either the battery dies (which happens) or you are no longer satisfied with it. I haven't spent any money on vape gear for over a month and am quite happy with what I have. However I am sure a time will come when I just need that little bit more from vaping. It may be in a weeks time or a few months who knows. Probably more like straight after a vape meet.

I think the term 'mod' probably ought to die with the VTR, which I think is going to spawn a lot of imitations that are less like (incredibly well-machined and etched) torch handles (And therefore 'marital aids')

This is a very good discussion point, and the answer, as can be seen already, will vary wildly between individuals.......
For example, my vaping buddy in work who started a few days before me started on ego/ce4, got a cheap skycig kit, and has eventually settled on the Halo cig-a-likes and has been happily vaping away on them for most of the last 13 months, refilling the cartos and only buying more when she's getting low on them.
Me, I'm not so fussy on mods, egos, whatever, as long as what's on top produces the vape...e.g. I've got LR carto tanks which vape perfectly well on an ego battery, no need for vv with those, but need vv for other clearos/carto tanks/whatever else to get a decent vape. In fact, I'm still struggling to find my "ideal" tank/clearo/whatever that gives good vape, doesn't need faffing with, and doesn't leak....but that's another thread possibly... I use egos, twists and vamo in battery/mod terms.
Oh, and I should add I don't care about what other people think about what device I'm using.... if it's that important to THEM then they need to get a life...

some smokers spend lots of money on nice lighters, I think the want for a caravela and chi_you is similar to this.
