Thanks loobiebloo I think your spot on. I was only expecting words at her door but she invited me in and we had a civilised conversation. I made some allowances to her spoken word and listened to stuff that had no relevance to why I was there and overall she was happy to have a conversation about her boys and what books she reads. We also spoke about immigration and how Britain had lost its identity. No apology just a peace pact. I will be extremely grateful for a decent nights sleep

Classic Dementia ........... But, there will be many times when she is completely lucid. Just not those times when she is banging on your door hearing that music. Sometimes, you just have to laugh or smile through everything. Jag. (I wonder who I am, and what idiot is playing the drums?)

The night was quiet and overall had a decent nights sleep but some muppet set the alarm for a opticians appointment that is not till next week. No one to blame except myself. This mad thing is contagious.

Oh gawwwd Stamina. What a nightmare (literally!)
Can I suggest you ring the local age concern office, of maybe social services who deal with older people? As this has only started happening recently, she may well have started displaying signs of dementia that were not there previously, or, not as serious. You said she hadn't seen her family for a while so if it has got worse no one would know. She might well need help and isn't getting any.

Thanks Dolly For the advice. I will ask her son about any possible issues but I feel he may not want to discuss her circumstances. Since the last episode prior to this mornings she has been quiet albeit just over a week, her son has been visiting and since she has been behaving I felt there was no need to speak to him but I will do today. I have phoned the police 101 number since it was a non urgent matter just to seek advice and they told me that they won't report the enquiry but will log it in their notes just in case she carries on causing a disturbance. They told me that if and when I next report the unrest they will send someone round to see her. Ironically they said, since she is the one complaining about me playing music you would of thought she would of phone the police but no reported calls made which is strange or not. I will speak to her son later if he arrives and will tell him that she is on the police most wanted list and that I intend to buy a straight jacket either for her or myself because she is driving me nuts. Oh Good morning Dolly

Oh Good morning Dolly Good morning young sir Yes, I would D definitely have a word with the son in a friendly, concerned neighbour kind of way. Have you lived next to each other for a long time?

My Mum has been here a long time as for me since 2000 after my relationship ended. I initailly moved back in to decorate and then became full time carer but next door has known me for a long time as we use to live at the top of the road when I was a kid.
Will speak to her son in a polite scouse civilised manner

I don't suppose she could have an alarm clock radio that has been set up Inadvertently? If it's "modern" music she will assume someone else is responsible For the sound.

staminaSearch on your local government website for Adult Support and Protection Unit. I'm sure they would be very helpful in this situation.

'Since the last episode prior to this mornings she has been quiet albeit just over a week, her son has been visiting and since she has been behaving I felt there was no need to speak to him but I will do today" I am wondering if her behaviour is akin to "attention seeking"......better when her family are visiting, worse when they are not. Either way it is a mental issue and possibly the social services can arrange to make visits to her once a day. Loneliness is a terrible issue for the elderly and can be the cause of problems such as this. Good luck, sounds as if you need some regular sleep!

After coming back from asda I decided to knock on her door, she answered and said that I was playing Irish music for 3 hours. She can not hear her television as she doesn't have hearing aids but she can hear music. After 20 minutes at her door the conversation became quite heated. I told her that I called 101 and she said she was going to call my housing association to get me evicted. I asked her to get her son to stay with her to see whether he could hear the music and she said that her son wouldn't stay with her which is sad really. I am going to speak to my housing association to discuss this matter because she still adamant (not Adam ant) its me playing so call music. Mark - she doesn't have any radio so she told me Karma - Will see what housing has to say and will look at local government website for Adult Support and Protection Unit. Great advice thank you. Emmita - it might be a case of attention seeking. I just don't know really but maybe your right. Chris - you crack me up great advice. Need to go back to Asda to buy some horlicks, wish you posted before I went. As I was leaving her front step , she said to me can you do me a favour. I replied I shouldn't really but go on what is it. Can you post the Sunday paper in at Flo's, I said oh okay. I have a sign on my head. LOSER - I can't win a argument with a elderly woman
