Don't forget to put your clocks back tonight. And tie your garden furniture down ready for Monday's storm!
I HATE this weekend every year. I really can't see the point of making it dark in the middle of the afternoon. I strongly believe we should be on the same time as the rest of western Europe.

I agree OneDay I wish they would just leave the clocks alone and thanks for the reminder to move some garden furniture into the shed! I've been trying to come up with some 'good things about winter' Sheepskin boots Big cozy cummfy jumpers that hide a multitude of sins Homemade soup and bread Woolly hats to hide bad hair days anyone else want to add to the list?

I hate winter.
Not looking forward to the storm thats due to hit the South West really hard. I'm home contact for a group of Explorers out in the middle of nowhere until Monday night. Might mean I have to spend time phoning parents to collect their children if the weather gets really bad.

My woodburner, I love having it on. I lurve really cold weather, it's just half cold weather I'm not to keen on! And showering in the morning when it's cold, my house is freezing in the morning, touch the tiles or the glass screen by accident and it's like getting an electric shock. Brrrrr

I adore winter. I think that having lived in the southern U.S. most of my life where it was so hot in spring and summer has something to do with it. Also there's always the possibility of snow here in Scotland and I love snow! I even like the fact that it's dark more. I've not gotton used to the summer months here where it's light practically all night, even after 13 years. Things I like most...that warm cozy feeling from the fireplace. Making homemade soup and chili. Feeding the birds and filling their baths up outside with hot steaming water (watching them bath is a joy) Decorating for Christmas (way ahead of time usually, but I love it) Coming in from shopping all chilled and warming up with a hot cup of tea. Cuddling up with OH under a blanket and watching a good film or several. Reading a good book under a duvet while the wind's whistling around the windows. Wearing my warm over the knee socks and long warm jumpers. Watching our collie playing in the snow.....priceless!

I'm with OneDay... I hate Winter. Perhaps when I've given up work totally and don't have to be anywhere, it may be different. But I'll still worry about family having to get to their jobs. My mood changes from now until the Spring, yes I'm sure I have the SAD syndrome... so I'll apologise now for any inappropriate posts I make for the next few months. I need the sunlight streaming through the window, can't stand the dismal, dark days and having to put the lights on at 2pm. I do remember great days when I was younger, especially in front of a pub open fire and snow outside and no-one else to worry about... but I'm a natural 'worrier' and even if I'm happy I'll still be thinking about close family who are out and about. Just as well we're all different.

I think we should do what our ancestors did and virtually hibernate until March. Unfortunately modern life doesn't allow this I would agree, but the older you get, the faster time goes by... and time is running out, so I don't want to waste anymore than I have to. You suddenly realise what you haven't done, the dreams you had when younger... so we're caught in a vicious cycle. I did warn you my posts would start to get weird!
