So, it's six weeks today since I smoked my last cigarette and started vaping. Can't believe it took me so long. I started on a cheapo Ego kit from a local shop and quickly moved onto an MVP and a Spinner, Protank and iClear 30 etc. Also trying out dripping. Bought most of my stuff and ejuice from Myepack, good site, and all is going well, even experimenting with dripping though a little confused at the mo. I came across some info about Diacetyl on a wiki about vaping. Apparently really bad stuff and should not be vaped under any circumstances. It's added to give a buttery flavour and I wondered if anyone else had heard about this. I get the DEkang juice and it's from China so the ingredients labeling is sparse. Can anyone set my mind at ease or give me any more info, I'd appreciate it. Thanks. wiki.planetofthevapes.co.uk/wiki/Diacetyl

Hello there metaldude nice to meet you I can't really answer your question apart from saying that I think any quantities used are miniscule and usually only found in buttery/custardy juices although most manufactures seem to steer clear of them altogether. I'm more worried about all the carp I put into my lungs before i discovered vaping

Hi metaldude and welcome to the forum, I have no clue about diacetyl but sure it has been mentioned before. Have a little search of the forum via the search button at the top

not so sure either, but I do tend to buy UK made good quality stuff, mainly because its a fraction of cost of 'me = smoking' OK there isnt massive vaping info out there? but after 35 years smoking...cant see that vaping can be worse! so I'm throwing my towel into vaping camp!¬

o hai metaldude - re diacetyl: very small amounts of diacetyl were found in some flavourings in a study that was done a year or so ago. The levels weren't high enough to cause any serious concern, but I believe that the flavour manufacturers have since removed it altogether from their concentrates. I recall that Flavour Art, specifically, changed their recipes to exclude any diacetyl.

Hi metaldude and I've gotta say, I'm with the others on this... whatever is in the flavourings is in such minuscule amounts, that I can't see how it could possibly be any worse than the carp that went into my lungs over the last 30 years!

Welcome Dude of the Metal-ness. (must be a music thing??) Glad to hear of your success. I use some Dekang liquids (from myepack) as I have a penchant for cheap and vaguely nasty tobacco-style e-liquid products. It helps wake me up in the same way as 4 hard-core rollies. Mostly, I avoid Dekang like the plague....however, Hangsen and Dekang are both well produced (good quality production lines) and will no doubt have removed any of the nasties, I feel sure.

metaldudeI did some research into diacetyl a year back, reported it here. It was primarily concerned with flavourings rather than juices, but in practice I found or obtained answers from the main juice suppliers too. Dekang is fine.
