Just received my replacement Vamo from Vapor Break this morning. (I dropped my first one after 9 months of good service.) Ordered 19th November, Shipped 20th ... So 13 days from ordering to receipt isn't too shabby. That said it's just gonna sit there as a backup now cos I'm totally in love with my MVP and am still in hope of a VTR for Christmas.

So 13 days from ordering to receipt isn't too shabby. That said it's just gonna sit there as a backup now cos I'm totally in love with my MVP and am still in hope of a VTR for Christmas. Hi daveyboy37, Have you tested your Vamo received from VB yet. I got mine last week and is faulty, the basic fault being it wil not boost the voltage from the batteries and also some serious quality issues. If you have not tested it I think you should. Well put this why, I would be interested in your findings when you test it. Story of mine. (Vamo Stainless steel V2) Basically it does not boost the voltage at all. When in mode 2 and you replace battery it resets to mode1 .. 3 volts. The display is dim, there is slight damage to the side of the 510 connector, and the top cap is badly made. The extension battery tube is not concentric, and the battery contact on the PCB has been filed down and is all rough looking. Tonight I decided to open the thing up. Its absolute 'Sh1te'. The burrs around the holes and display where razor sharp and fouled the buttons. Ok, explains why buttons where awkward to press. The PCB has been ground down at battery end and the Connector pin also and is not straight. The soldered joint for the negative to the end cap screw leaves bit to be desired but is connecting with no volt drop under load.. Never seen this design and layout of PCB, nor searching google for vamo PCBs. It appears to have no reverse battery voltage protection diodes. There also seems to be a lack of large coupling caps for the voltage booster. This may be the fault. Its very badly put together. I have the impression this vamo it is made up of a load of rejected parts. Mine is totally unacceptable. not least as not usable unless two batteries are fitted and then not very powerful. I have requested a refund via Paypal, as unless VB can supply one from a decent batch there is no point in getting a replacement sent. The buttons are also rubbish. The large one has such a small shoulder inside the tube, once I removed the thin burr, the button can jam in the hole....great. Also a machining spigot left on other end which stops the switch fully returning...does now. The smaller buttons ( as well as the large one, are just badly turned but could be cleaned up. The PCB also shows signs of being overheated during soldering, the plastic on the main switch has bubbled with the heat and soldered joints show solder has been too hot for too long. I'm in the industry and can spot these things. I do hope yours is not from the same batch and this is a one off, but thought best to warn you and anyone else NOT to buy a vamo from VB just now but that is assuming mine is not a stray bad one. hence why I would be interested in how yours is. VB have not yet responded to any messages left since Friday morning. robby, many thanks for your help so far. Shame VB have not responded yet. If I get a chance I will take some pics tomorrow.

1st SS vamo V2 I got from VB earlier in year is a gem, did have rattly switches but but was easy to fix by taking off battery tube and shimming the switches with a bit of thin plastic and was then perfect. Hence why I went back to VB to get second one. Had it apart to replace the switch a few weeks ago as it got very soft to press and worn out from use, and is well made inside.
Then I replaced the switches in my two lavatubes as well. Nice clicky action again....one of them came from VB. Tell you what though, taking a lavatube apart is not for the faint hearted unless you know how and is actually quite hard to do without damaging it or breaking off fine wires. I managed though and after resoldering wires got them back in one piece with no marks.

Legendgadget, Many thanks for your response. I have put some pictures together and am writing a full report. Can you accept a word document... Office 2010. If not I will send as earlier version or different format. Let me know please. I am trying to make it as useful as I can for you to throw back at your suppliers. Edit, have finished my report... emailing it to you as requested. I have spent a lot of time of my time on this (actually enjoyed doing it) so I do hope it is of use to you.
