Hi there, I'm looking to get a tube mod as a backup to my MPV and other lesser devices, and can't choose between the above. The specs are pretty similar and for looks I'm leaning towards the SVD. Price is much the same from FT too (no great rush to get it!) I'm wondering about the life span, compatibility with attys and reliability? Any advice appreciated. Cheers

I have a V4 Vamo and can't fault it. My MVP was the back-up for the Vamo though, better hit off the Vamo IMO.
Can't speak of the SVD though, as never had one. But have heard lots of good things.

I have both of them, and I would go for the SVD, but only on cosmetic grounds, they both perform equally well and should take whatever you want to put on them. The SVDs are all made of SS

I am going on a downward spiral with my VV/VW mods. Firstly (amongst other non-VV/mech things) I got an Evic, a decision now deeply regretted, unless it can be saved. Then I got a SID. I am waiting now on a Vamo V5. I would hazard a guess that anything by Innokin might be better than a generic Vamo. However, I have no evidence.
I'm going cheap from now on. If <£100 products by Joyetech can get loose wires and even Joyetech won't warranty the wiring, then I'd rather buy without any long-term optimism.
3 or 4 Chinese-bought Vamos have to outlast an Evic. Surely?

Surely? No doubt about it djs. From my point of view I would trust one Vamo longer than I would trust one Evic, and I do have both. The Evic is only a 4 amp limit versus a 5amp in the Vamo. I rarely use the Evic now, it just doesn`t have the same kick as the Vamo.

I had both - I personally prefer the vamo (a V2) which I still have. The SVD is just a bit bigger, it looks nice, but the buttons are the wrong way round for me and that extra size just made it feel like a stay at home device. I also love my evic

I liked neither and sold both on quickly. The Vamo does seem to get much better reviews than the SVD though

Vamo every time . . . sold my unused SVD on at Vapefest. I didn't like the button/menu arrangement, sharp edges on the tube nor the wacking gurt size of it. Just wasn't the mod for me. Here it is in 18350 mode, next to a Sigelei Zmax also in 18350 mode.

I was facing the same choice earlier this week. Having looked at all the You Tube reviews I plumped for the SVD, It arrived today. Batteries have not got here yet, so I can't tell you how it vapes, but every time I pick it up and stroke it I swear it purrrrs

I was going to ask the same question as the OP. I've spent ages gawping at PBusardo's video reviews of the SVD and the Vamo V5 and still can't make up my mind. I prefer the Vamo's menu system and button layout, and the fact that it's not a telescope, but the device itself looks a bit knock-off and flimsy. I like the illuminated power button and the quality look of the SVD, and I'm used to the Innokin screen (got an itaste v3) but it is a clonking great thing and is obviously a flipping big telescope. There aren't any vape shops near me so I can't go and touch the kit, which I'm sure would let me decide. Anyone had any failures with either of these devices ?

Not been my self but mate of a mate has and pretty sure they've got mods and stuff as he has bought stuff from there, best give them a ring first I suppose though. The website is pretty basic, more info/chat on there facebook page... www.facebook.com/groups/469920973093389/?fref=tsThinking of having a look in one Friday night myself.

I got an SVD about 3 days ago and I have a V2. The SVD is about 5mm longer (about 4% in short mode). The menu system is less intuitive - I have just about learned it after 3 days whereas the Vamo took about 5 mins. The button colours sounds nice, but in practice you don't look at it while vaping, so not much improvement on the vamo. Even when I've got used to it I think I'll find the menu more awkward than on a vamo. I virtually always found the right button to fire up the vamo from the beginning, but I am still sometimes pressing the wrong button (or the screen) on the SVD. The rubber washer below the centre post on my vamo went after a year, as apparently it often does. It is fixable (and fixed). I suspect the SVD isn't a lot better, so whichever you get I'd be careful not to overtighten the atty. I have a couple of spring-loaded novas and don't use them on either. I think the actual electronics are the same, but the SVD doesn't seem to have a way of getting into that stupid N01 mode. The hardware difference is mostly the telescopic thing, which has the disadvantage that it is marginally heavier in 18350 mode, and the advantage that there are other sizes of battery that it will take (I don't have any). The SVD sometimes stops working when you change the atty and you have to turn it off and on again. My Vamo switch on (5 clicks) doesn't always work, and you have to do it again - maybe 2 or 3 times - a bit irritating when you are watching telly with OH. The SVD (3 clicks) hasn't failed so far and I guess probably won't - the switch construction is obviously different. What put me off the V5 was that there was a supplier who says they've stopped stocking them because of the number of returns (don't know if they still say that), which put me off buying it from China and so increased the price. While I was dithering the SVD came up on the classies (thanks richo71). If you trust the V5 I'd buy whichever was cheaper, and if the price was the same I'd probably get the Vamo if people seemed to think that either the switching on thing or the washer beneath the pin had improved since the V2, otherwise the SVD.

I had the SVD and sold it due to the physical size and weight even in my goalkeeper's hands ... bought an eVic (2 actually) and I can't rate it highly enough ... lighter and much more compact even in 18650 mode ... much smoother power delivery ... ability to download firmware updates rather than having to continually buy v1, v2 etc ... ability to set it up (screen display layout etc) to my personal tastes ... no matter what mods I buy in the future, I can never see me selling the eVics ... highly recommended.

I've only had my SVD 2/3 weeks, and love it. I chose it over the Vamo. Although you're expecting Darth Vador to pop up from behind the sofa, any time - and ignoring the size of it, I think it looks pretty stylish and vapes, excellently.
